Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center (PBRMC) is celebrating National Nurses Week (May 6–12) and National Hospital Week (May 11–17), and this year holds extraordinary significance. In 2025, PBRMC will celebrate 100 years of providing healthcare to Poplar Bluff and the surrounding communities — a legacy made possible by the knowledgeable and compassionate individuals within the hospital's walls.
Today, more than 1,600 employees, medical staff, contractors, and volunteers, including 502 dedicated nurses, continue to carry forward the hospital’s mission of providing safe, quality healthcare. Throughout the week, the hospital will recognize and honor healthcare heroes, beginning on National Day of Prayer with a prayer at the front entrance flagpole on Thursday, May 1, at 7:30 a.m.
PBRMC will also be honored by Mayor Shane Cornman on Tuesday, May 6, at 10 a.m. for a special proclamation recognizing nurses. The celebrations will continue with treats and festivities throughout the week, culminating in a cookout for all employees in appreciation of their unwavering commitment and care.
“As we celebrate during this landmark year, we are reminded that the heart of our hospital has always been its people. For a century, our dedicated providers, nurses, and staff have delivered compassionate, expert care to our community,” said Clyde Wood, CEO. “This milestone is a testament to their unwavering commitment and the legacy they continue to build every day. I am incredibly proud to celebrate them during this special time in our history.”
