Bloomfield Action Team (BAT) Met to Discuss Repairs to Church

Bloomfield, MO - The Bloomfield Action Team met on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 to discuss applying for a grant to repair the church, a continuation of the previous meeting's discussion.  Mayor Bill Aslin emailed a list of questions that were discussed and answered at the meeting.  The church is located on Missouri Street.  It is the old Christian Church.

Call to order: Jim Mayo called to order the meeting on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at 5:30 p.m. at the Stars and Stripes Museum.  

Roll Call: The following members were present:  Dee Loflin, Amy Haas, Jennifer Green, Sue Mayo, Jim Mayo, Sheila Brown, Laura Dumey.

Non-members present: Lyndell Revelle

Secretary Report:  

Minutes were accepted  with corrections (Mr. Mayo is president and not Sue Mayo)

Motion to approve: Sheila Brown,  Seconded by Jennifer Green 

Treasurer report:   Treasurer not present  

Old Business:  

Jim Mayo talked about the history of the church and the importance of saving it. 

New Business:  

Mayor of Bloomfield, Bill Aslin, sent the following bullet points to the group to answer. 

Who will pay the monthly utility bills: BAT will pay utility bills. The treasurer has the checkbook and will be responsible for paying the utility bill, insurance bills, grounds and maintenance bills.

Who will be responsible for keeping the building insured: BAT will have the building insurance. The president and vice president will get bids for insurance and the treasurer will be responsible for paying the insurance bill.

Who will be responsible for booking events: The staff at the Stars and Stripes Museum will help booking events. BAT will use the Museum’s phone number and the Museum will give the information to the officers of BAT. 

Who will be responsible for opening, closing the building: The staff at the Museum will have a key to show the space. The trustee members of the BAT will also have a key. 

Who will see the building is cleaned regularly: BAT trustees will see that the building is cleaned. 

Who will be responsible for the upkeep of the grounds, yard being mowed, etc: BAT will be responsible for hiring someone to keep up the grounds. The treasurer will be responsible for paying the bills.

What fundraisers will be planned to support the money to do the above: Fundraisers planned are Trivia Night raising $2500 to $5000, a craft fair $2000, golf tournament $2000-$4000, Raffles $2500, Membership drive $20 per member.

We have been told seating capacity is 75 as a maximum so that does limit crowd size: Yes, the space is limited to 75 to 100 individuals. The space is planned for small weddings, Christmas programs, recitals, club meeting space, quilt shows, guest speakers. BAT will charge $150/2 hours and $50 each additional hour for weddings, $10 admission for the Christmas program, for small functions such as recitals BAT will charge $75/2 hours, BAT will charge clubs $120/year to meet in the building.

Also we have been told the basement will not be used: There are some questions about that.

Downtown Dexter Tree Lighting 2021 Event

Dexter, MO - The Historic Downtown Dexter Association (HDDA) will have their annual Downtown Dexter Tree Lighting event on Sunday, November 7th at 5:30 p.m.

The event will be held at the Dexter Welcome Center at 10 W. South Main Street.

Hot chocolate and cookies will be provided by Bank of Advance.

Lights are donated by First Midwest Bank.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

Bloomfield, MO - The Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce will host their 3rd Annual Turkey Trot 5K and Walk 

Amy Haas, President of the Bloomfield Chamber, is also seeking sponsorships for the Struttin' Our Stuffin' t-shirts.

Gold Sponsors are $100 which includes logo and name on the back of the shirt.  Silver Sponsors are $50 and features the name on the back of the t-shirt.

The Turkey Trot will be held on Thursday, November 25, 2021.

Early bird special is $20 by Monday, November 8th (t-shirt and medal guaranteed)

After November 9th the entry fee is $25 and shirt and medal not guaranteed, but they will try.

All ages are welcome to participate and if you choose to dress like a turkey that's ok too! 

The course begins and ends at the Bloomfield City Park.  registration is at 8 a.m. with a start time 8:30 a.m.
