Dexter Kiwanis Club Preschool Easter Egg Hunt Winners

Dexter, MO - The Dexter Kiwanis Club held their annual Easter Egg hunt at West Park Saturday, April 3, 2021.

The Easter Egg Hunt was divided into three age groups with each group having three prize eggs hidden. The kids that found the prize eggs received an Easter Basket and stuffed toy.

The winners in the preschool division are from left: 1st place Layken Jones, 2nd place Jace Brooks and 3rd place Janssen Rennick.

Dexter Police Dept Fundraiser for Special Olympics - Purchase a t-shirt, support an athlete!

The Dexter Police Department will again participate in the Special Olympics Torch Run. The date of the Torch Run will be May 28, 2021 at 10:00 AM The route will be Bus 60 and Route AD (Wal-Mart) to Bus 60 and Mo 25. Several agencies will be participating in the Special Olympics Torch Run in Dexter MO.

On that morning it is asked that the employees at the businesses along the route come out and cheer the policemen and policewomen who are running the torch!

Last years Special Olympics Torch Run was canceled due to COVID-19, please help us support the athletes this year.

The Dexter Police Department will be selling Special Olympics shirts. The items can be purchased by contacting the Dexter Police Department.

Bloomfield Farmers Market Will Begin May 4th

Bloomfield, MO - The Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce and Elderland Restaurant will once again host the annual Bloomfield Farmers Market and it is set to begin Tuesday, May 4, 2021.

Each Tuesday from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Elderland Restaurant parking lot the Bloomfield Farmers Market will accept baked goods, vegetables, jams and jellies, plants, flowers, handmade craft items, fruits, eggs, herbs, and small livestock such as chickens, ducks, rabbits, etc.

There might be an opportunity to host other types of vendors as well.  Please contact Amy Haas to set up your booth by emailing her at Amy_Haas1@outlook.com

Tables and tents are not provided so bring your own.  A season pass is $25 or a single day pass is just $5.

Lenten Fish Fry Set at Sacred Heart Church

Dexter, Mo - The Dexter Knights of Columbus will host a Lenten Fish Fry on Friday, March 26th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Parish Center.

The church is located at 102 E. Castor Street in Dexter.  This will be a drive thru only event.

Plates will include catfish, potato, hush puppies, slaw, pickle, and onion.  Cost will be $12 per plate.

Richland Junior High Volleyball Team Raising Money for Kyran Mitchell

Essex, MO - Schools in southeast Missouri know all too well about cancer and the junior high volleyball team at Richland is coming together to help a 3rd grade student, Kyran Mitchell.

Kyran is currently in treatment for Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare type of soft tissue cancer.

Baylee Decker, JH Volleyball Coach, and the young Lady Rebels will be selling t-shirts as well as hosting a Dig for a Cure game in honor of Kyran.

The games will be held on Friday, March 12th and all proceeds from the shirts will go directly to Kyran and his family as he continues his fight.

"We will be selling the shirts through Monday, March 1st.  They are $15 each with $2 added for 2X and $3 added for 3X and 4X," stated Decker.  "Forms will be sent home with students this week."  

Checks can be made payable to Richland JH Volleyball.
