Dexter Chamber to Host True Colors Program

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter Chamber of Commerce will host a True Colors Program on Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. - noon.  The Leadership participants plus any other members of the community can participate beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 19th at the Chamber of Commerce Conference Room.

The program presentation will be from 9:00 AM until Noon followed by lunch. The fee for the training for the non-leadership participants will be $35. 

Attendees will receive booklets to keep for reference after the seminar.  If you or any of your employees would like to register, please contact Hillary Starnes, Dexter Chamber of Commerce. 

Registration deadline will be Friday, April 13th.

What is True Colors and what can it do for me?

True Colors® is a model for understanding yourself and others based on your personality temperament. They would love to help you with those gently unwanted items and take them off your hands.

Their resale shop is always accepting donations you would love for someone else to enjoy.

You may drop your items off at 1st Thursday or their office on Grant street. They will be more than happy to accept your donations. 

You may also contact Linda Ulm at 624-0365 and she will schedule a time to meet with you.

Local Rotary Officers Attend Leadership Training
Jefferson City, Missouri -  David L Ellinghouse, Secretary-Elect and Danny Talkington, President-Elect of the Rotary Club in Dexter, Missouri for the year beginning July 1, recently attended the 40th Annual Show Me Rotary Leadership Institute, March 23-24, 2018.  

Rotary International President-Elect Barry Rassin from Nassau, Bahamas, was the keynote speaker for the two-day training event, which was held at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City.  

The Show Me Rotary Leadership Institute comprises three Rotary districts working cooperatively. This cooperation makes it possible to attract senior Rotary leaders from around the nation and world.

Missouri has 160 Rotary Clubs and approximately 7,700 members statewide. As president of Rotary International, Rassin will lead a worldwide organization comprising 1.3 million Rotarians in 35,000 clubs in 200 different countries.   

Each year more than 300 future leaders of Rotary in Missouri gather at Show Me Rotary for an educational program designed to prepare them for their responsibilities in the upcoming year. They receive training on such topics as managing and leading a Rotary club, engaging members and building strong clubs. 
The institute also helps them become knowledgeable about topics such as the humanitarian projects of Rotary, world peace initiatives, efforts to eradicate polio and how to assess and serve community needs. Attendees also hear from Rotarian leaders, who share inspiring stories.   

Rotarians and other donors fund The Rotary Foundation, considered one of the most outstanding philanthropic organizations in the world with a score of 100 percent and four stars in Charity Navigator.  

Rotary is perhaps best known as the chief motivating force behind the efforts to eradicate polio.  Along the way, Rotarians, in cooperation with the World Health Organization, have made inroads in developing distribution systems for medicines and vaccines for polio and numerous other diseases which have saved, and will continue to help, individuals around the world.   
Utilizing the motto “Service Above Self,” Rotary members believe they have a shared responsibility to take action on the world’s most persistent issues. Rotary clubs work together to promote peace; fight disease; provide clean water, sanitation and hygiene; save mothers and children; support education; and grow local economies.

Ellinghouse is employed at County Wide Insurance Agency in Dexter and has been involved in Rotary for four years. David also is a Past-President of the Rotary Club of Dexter.

SoutheastHEALTH of Stoddard County Supports Fitness Challenge
Dexter, Missouri - Southeast Health provided cutting boards for participants in the Regional Healthcare Foundation “TRI” Team Fitness Challenge. 

Pictured, LeVeda Scates, Coordinator of the Fitness Challenge and Sue Ann Williams, CEO Dexter Southeast Health.   

One of the key points stressed in the competition is healthy nutrition. 

Participants appreciated the cutting boards because salads are a focus food for weight loss.
