Blood Drives in Stoddard County - Earn a FREE T-shirt
Stoddard County, Missouri - Earn a free t-shirt and save three lives!  Sounds like a plan to me!  Donate blood at three different locations in September in Stoddard County.

When you give blood, you never know who it will help. But to a mother of a toddler in the hospital, the husband of a wife facing cancer treatments, or the daughter of a man fighting to survive a major car accident, it's very personal. Your gift can change lives forever.

As we get closer to Labor Day weekend, holiday travel often leads to a steep drop in donations. Please help us overcome the drop and make sure patients will get the care they need without delay.

To thank you for giving blood during the Labor Day weekend, if you donate between September 1 and September 5, you'll receive a special edition Red Cross t-shirt.*

Little Free Pantry of Essex

Little Free Pantry of Essex

Essex, Missouri - Small food pantries are sprouting up in many small communities in our area. The Little Free Pantry of Essex was established back in March of 2017 and has had quite the success from canned foods to fresh tomatoes.

It is located in the middle of Essex between City Hall and the fire station.

"I came across the idea on the Internet," stated Thomas Strickland.  "I would notice a high demand for the food bank sponsored by the local churches and they were only offered once a month."

Strickland looked into other pantries offered by SEMO Food Bank, but they were held during normal working hours.

"I wanted to be sure even people who worked 8 - 5 still had an option.

Over the summer they have had watermelons, fresh tomatoes, breads, and canned goods donated.

"Take what you need, leave what you can" is on the front of the Little Free Pantry.  You can follow the Little Free Pantry of Essex on Facebook by clicking HERE.

Modern Woodmen of American funded the project.  David Dalton, Trinity United Methodist Church member built the box and MWA members pained and installed along with Justin Bell's help at its location on Missouri Street north of the fire station.

Members of MWA Club donated and helped stock the Blessing Box.

If you aren't familiar with Blessing Boxes, there are over 1000 across the country in cities and small communities like ours.

These boxes are used in communities to help people in need. Basically take what you need, leave what you can. The box will be FREE to people.
