Farmers Market in Bloomfield

Bloomfield, Missouri - It's time for fresh vegetables, baked goods, and more during the Farmers Markets. Each Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Granny Pickers on Highway 25 in Bloomfield.

There is no charge to set up a booth and sell vegetables, baked goods, jewelry etc.  Has to be home made or home grown.  No permits needed.

Color Out Cancer 5K Run in Honor of Nelvia Johnson

Bernie, Missouri - Color Out Cancer 5K Run/Walk will be held in honor of Nelvia Johnson’s fight against breast cancer on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Bernie City Park.

Neliva just completed her last cancer treatment and rang the bell last week; however expenses have mounted and she will continue to take medication.  Let's keep that cancer from coming back!!!

The 5K Run/Walk begins at 9:30 a.m. with registration at 9:00 a.m. and of course you will be doused with color powder as you run or walk the race. So be sure to either purchase a t-shirt there or wear a white t-shirt to get "all your colors on!"  Time to Color Out Cancer for Nelvia!!!!

The cost to run the race is $35 for adults and kindergarten – 12th grade is $25 per person.  Other fundraiser t-shirts will be on hand for purchase as well.

Bernie Music Festival Slated for July 15th

Bernie, Missouri - Bernie Elementary music teacher, Mrs. Cecilia Lanpher, is having a music festival to raise money for a new sound system for the Bernie cafeteria/auditorium.

The festival will be held on July 15th at the Bernie Community Center and will include outdoor games and prizes for children.  Hotdogs, brats, and snow cones will be available for purchase.  T-shirts will also be sold for $15.  Glitter T-shirts are $20 and 2X and above add $2.00 each. During performances a silent auction will be going on inside the community center.

The Music Festival opens at 5:30 p.m. and the performances will begin at 6:00 p.m.  There is a $3.00 admission fee with children 12 and under get in for FREE!  Many performers will be at the festival including "The Electric 107s, Los Traviesos de Mexico, Finely Watkins, and the Rockability Kid!"  The Bernie Music Club will also be performing!

Peter Kinder to Headline Bloomfield Library Event

Bloomfield, Missouri - Lt. Governor Peter Kinder will be on hand to mark the Open House and dedicate the remodeling of the Bloomfield Public Library.  The event will be held on Saturday, June 25th from 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Local businessman Norman Harty made possible the renovations with his generous monetary donation and will be on hand to mark the dedication.

A tour of the library will be provided by library personnel and refreshments will also be served.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend.  The Bloomfield Library is located at 200 W. Seneca Street.  For more information call the library at (573) 568-3626.

Dexter, Missouri - Want a delicious meal at a great price? Head to the Dexter Senior Center located at   23 W. Stoddard St. in historic downtown Dexter.  You don't have to be a senior to eat.  They serve lunch from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. and the cost is $3.50 for seniors and $5.00 for non-seniors.

This week's menu for Monday, June 20th - Friday, June 24th

Monday, June 20th - Breaded beef fritter, chicken strips, corn, broccoli, whole grain bread and pineapples.

Tuesday, June 21st - Pork roast, meatballs & gravy, mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, biscuit and strawberry shortcake.

Wednesday, June 22nd - Chicken and rice, lasagna, carrots, lettuce salad, whole grain bread and chocolate cream pie.

Thursday, June 23rd - Chef salad (lettuce, ham, egg, cheese, veggies), corn nuggets, crackers, and Jello.

Friday, June 24th - Chicken sandwich, pork fritter, sweet potato fries, coleslaw, bun/bread, and pudding.
