
Bloomfield, Missouri - The Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce held their annual Chamber Awards Banquet on Friday, April 29th.
Toni Hill, Superintendent of Bloomfield Public Schools, presented Dustin Hicks with the 2016 Bloomfield Chamber Educator of the Year Award.
Dustin is a 1999 graduate of Bloomfield High School. He served 8 years as a physical education teacher, athletic director, baseball, and basketball coach at both Van Buren and Bloomfield Schools. He also served as Middle School Principal at Puxico before turning to Bloomfield in 2012 ad High School Principal.

Dexter, Missouri - Gaige Willems, 7th grade student at T. S. Hill Middle School, is wise beyond his years. All of us are praying for Chase Morrison, his family, the driver, witnesses, friends, and the emergency personnel who are mourning the loss of an innocent child. No one can express in words the sadness we all feel.
Gaige and a few of his classmates were chatting and together they have asked that EVERYONE to wear purple on Tuesday to honor Chase, his friend and his classmate. He wants high school students, business people, middle school students, anyone and everyone to wear PURPLE!
In his own words on Facebook Gaige said, "I'm asking you ALL to wear PURPLE to honor MY friend Chase Morrison and to take a moment of silence and have a prayer at lunch! Please pray for his journey to heaven and his family and his friends and please support him and honor him by wear purple tomorrow and make a new friend and have a prayer at lunch and I mean students,teachers,workers, everybody it's time for a change and to make a difference in people's lives and now is the time! I'm sorry Chase you will never be forgotten follow Gods path to Heaven and you'll be ok see you soon buddy."

Pam Elder presented the Kingree Family with the Bloomfield Chamber 2016 Farm Family of the Year.
Elvin and Jane Kingree have been involved in farming for 36 years. Elvin is a 1973 graduate of Bloomfield High School. They currently farm 3,600 acres of corn, rice, and soybeans.

Goldie DeGroot, newly elected Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce President, presented Kathy Mooney Shelton with the 2016 Bloomfield Chamber Woman of the Year Award.
Kathy is a 1966 Bloomfield High School graduate. She wrote a successful grant that generated $70,000 to make much needed repairs to the Stoddard County Courthouse. The grant stipulated that the county designate $30,000 for this project.

Jim Mayo of the Stars & Stripes Museum presented the 2016 Bloomfield Chamber Man of the Year Award to Larry Ward.
Larry is a 1971 Bloomfield High School graduate. He spent a great deal of time and money gathering information about the Stoddard County Courthouse, replacing the hands on the clock, cleaning and putting the clock into working order.
