
Bloomfield, Missouri - The Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce held their annual Chamber Awards Banquet on Friday, April 29, 2016.
Goldie DeGroot, newly elected Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce President, presented Kathy Mooney Shelton with the 2016 Bloomfield Chamber Woman of the Year Award.
Kathy is a 1966 Bloomfield High School graduate. She wrote a successful grant that generated $70,000 to make much needed repairs to the Stoddard County Courthouse. The grant stipulated that the county designate $30,000 for this project.

Jim Mayo of the Stars & Stripes Museum presented the 2016 Bloomfield Chamber Man of the Year Award to Larry Ward.
Larry is a 1971 Bloomfield High School graduate. He spent a great deal of time and money gathering information about the Stoddard County Courthouse, replacing the hands on the clock, cleaning and putting the clock into working order.

Dexter, Missouri -The Walkers for Wellness Project ended on April 20th with three winners. Participants had to log in at either the Regional Healthcare Foundation or the Bearcat Event Center weekly.
Winners were Debbie Triplett. She won $100. Krysta Williams and Ruth McCollough each won $50.

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for AG Resource ARM Management on Tuesday, April 19, 2016.
They are located at 325 East Business 60 in Dexter.
Ag Resource Management is a growing lender to agriculture that offers a diversified group of loan products designed to meet producers' needs. They provide crop production loans for agribusinesses and farmers. Production lending can be direct to the producer or can be arranged in conjunction with the local supplier. They also offer Grain Storage Loans allow you to access needed capital. The advance limit is up to 90% of contract value with terms running from harvest until 14 days after delivery. Growers are responsible for grain maintenance according to contract specifications.

Dexter, Missouri - On March 19, Dow Croom a Vietnam Veteran who resides in Dexter gave a program to the Chalk Bluff Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution on his experiences during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Croom served two tours with the US Army in Vietnam as a right door gunner on a troop transport helicopter. After the program, Mr. Croom was presented with the DAR Distinguished Citizen Medal.
The DAR Distinguished Citizen Medal is awarded to emergency first responders; active duty military and veterans of the United States Armed Forces; and citizens who have contributed to the defense and security of the community, state, or nation in an exceptional manner.
Mr. Croom also received the Eagle pin. This lapel pin is symbolic. The eagle represents courage, honor and dedicated service to our nation. As one of the most recognizable and notable American symbols, it is emblazoned with distinction on numerous military insignia. The color blue matches the canton of the American flag and signifies vigilance, perseverance and justice. The circle shape and blue color also match the official seal of the Commemoration. Laurel Wreath is a time-honored symbol representing victory, integrity and strength. The stripes behind the eagle represent the American flag. The six stars represent the six allies who served, sacrificed and fought alongside one another: Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, and the United States. The message, “A Grateful Nation Thanks and Honors You,” is embossed on the back, closest to the heart of the veteran who wears it.
March 29th represents the date in 1973 when the last troops left Vietnam.
