Annual Kettle Beef Dinner Hosted by First Christian Church

Dexter, Missouri - The First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)  in Dexter will host their 8th annual Kettle Beef Dinner on Sunday, October 4th.

Since 2008, the church has served delicious kettle beef on the first Sunday of October.  The tradition will continue this year with the proceeds being used to help provide Easter dinners for families in Stoddard County area.

Adult tickets are $8.00 each with children 10 and under $5.00 each.  Carry-outs are available on adult tickets only.  Drive-thru is also available.

Enjoy delicious kettle beef with mashed potatoes, green beans, glazed carrots, rolls, a dessert and drink!  For tickets call (573) 624-4341 or just come with an empty stomach on Sunday!

Join the First Christian Church from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at 224 East. Stoddard Street in downtown Dexter.

Bearcat Homecoming Tailgate Slated for Friday

Dexter, Missouri - The 2015 Bearcat Fall Community Homecoming Tailgate event will be held on Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Bearcat Event Center.  The public is invited and encouraged to come out and join the fun!

The excitement begins at 4:00 p.m. with several businesses set up on the parking lot of the BEC ready to tailgate. 

Autry Morlan, Janet’s Beauty Salon, D-Club Bland Award group, Bud Shell Ford, Regional Healthcare Foundation, CTA group, Young Reality, DHS Class of 1975, County Wide Insurance, First Midwest Bank, Key Drugs, Bank of Advance, State Farm, Montgomery Bank, Central Gardens, DHS Class of 1990, Golden Living, Three Rivers College, First Commercial Bank, Southeast Hospital, Dexter Police Dept., Dexter Fire Dept. Stoddard County Ambulance, The Gideons, First State Bank & Trust, the Dexter Boys Basketball Team, Allen Christian, First Baptist Church, and the Dexter Bearcat Booster Club will entertain you, offer delicious treats, and even Bearcat souvenirs to take to the game!

Wear your red and show your spirit for the BEARCATS!

Don’t forget to collect cards from all of the emergency personnel that will be wearing the PINK shirts in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month!

There's lots of entertainment for the kids! SoutheastHEALTH will once again have the big BOUNCE HOUSE over near the fire truck!

The all popular Christian Rock band All Together United will perform LIVE on stage at 4:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. 

Bill Hampton from Three Rivers College will also be on stage chatting with various Bearcat Fans and is the official MC for the night!

The basketball team and elementary-aged students will have opportunities to team together in several competitive games!  They will have games such as the Cheetos Free Throw, the Hula Hoop Hustle, Motion Offense (using Oreo cookies) between 5:00 and 6:15 pm.

Have you driven around Dexter to see all the Window Splash Bearcat themed windows? The winners of the DHS Art Splash will also be announced! Check out various businesses such as Ben Franklin, County Wide Insurance, First Midwest Bank, Montgomery Bank, Farm Bureau, Countywide Abstract, First State Bank, Pizza Hut, First National Bank, and Golden Living Center!  They are decorated and ready for HOMECOMING 2015!

At 5:15 p.m. the Dexter High School Cheerleaders will perform with the Impact Cheer Squad.  Beginning at 6:15 p.m. the DHS Marching Band will perform and then march down to the field at 6:25 p.m. to lead Bearcat fans to Charles Bland Stadium.

At 6:30 p.m. the new Homecoming Queen will be crowned along with her court!

Kick-off is at 7:00 p.m. against the New Madrid County Central Eagles!  Let’s clip those wings BEARCATS!!!! 

The Bearcat Event Center is the place to be prior to the football game!  Get psyched up and cheer for our boys of fall!

2015 Stoddard County Pageants Slated for October 4th
Dexter, Missouri - The members of Xi Lambda Psi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi would like to announce the plans for the 2015 Stoddard County Pageants. 

The pageants will be held Sunday, October 4, 2015 at the Dexter High School Auditorium beginning at 2:00 p.m. 

The following categories will be included:  Little Miss (ages 3 to 7), Petite Miss (ages 7 to 11, or in the fifth grade), Junior Miss (ages 11-14, grades 6, 7, and 8), and Miss (age 14 to 20, grade 9 and above). 

All contestants must be residents of a Stoddard County School District, or attend a Stoddard County School. 

They must also be a reigning Queen, or attendant in their respective category or age group.  Any title bestowed from October 5, 2014 to the date of the pageant meets eligibility requirements.

Entry forms and rules will be available at all area High Schools and the Bunny Patch in Dexter. An optional rehearsal will be held on Friday, October 2, in the Dexter High School Auditorium

The deadline for entry is 4:00 p.m., Thursday October 1.  The order in which entry forms are received has no bearing on the order of contestants’ appearance in the pageants.

Proceeds for the pageants will be used to help various community and county projects such as the Karen Pippins Scholarship, 18 Fore Life, Relay for Life, the Stoddard County Children's Home, the ARC Groups Homes, the local Beta Sigma Phi Scholarship, Christmas gifts for needy families, and the Stoddard County Rescue Mission.

First Alternate is Caroline Powers of Dexter and Second Alternate is Megan Cullum of Essex.

Rhythm Steppers Earn 5th Consecutive First Place Win!
Dexter, Missouri - The Puxico High School Rhythm Steppers Band took First Place at the 87th Stoddard County Fair Parade.

The parade was held on Tuesday, September 22nd down Stoddard Street.  This marks the 5th consecutive year that the Puxico Marching Band has earned the top spot among all the bands.

Second place went to the Bloomfield Marching Wildcats.  Third place went to the Bernie Marching Band.
