In addition to team money, three corporate sponsors, Bud Shell Ford, Carrillo’s Martial Arts, and Bank of Advance raised nearly $12,000 through their combined efforts.
Students of Carrillo Martial Arts “kicked off” Relay with their annual three minutes of kicking to raise money.
Bud Shell Ford representatives were on hand sponsoring a Test Drive campaign which donated $20 for every vehicle participants took for a spin.
Additional Corporate Sponsors accounted for more than $30,000 for this year’s Relay for Life.
“It was an overall fantastic event,” commented co-chair Belinda Worley. “The weather was great and we had a large crowd.”

Dexter, Missouri – No child should ever have to endure living with cancer. Levi Stinson of Bloomfield was diagnosed with type B acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in 2014.
ALL is a form of cancer of the blood cells which causes the overproduction of immature, cancerous white blood cells and limits the production of normal red and white blood cells and platelets.
Levi has been receiving treatment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
On Monday, the Dexter Rotary Club will host a blood drive in his honor at the Sacred Heart Church from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Please come out and support this little guy as he undergoes treatment. There will also be a donation jar available for financial donations.
Facebook users can follow him on Love 4 Levi page by clicking here. His mother, Sarah Stockton, updates his page regularly.
No appointment is necessary, but you can pre-register at redcrossblood.org to save a little time waiting.
For anyone who comes and registers to give blood they will receive a FREE Pizza Hut pizza coupon! The Rotary Club also provides sandwiches, cookies, juice and other goodies to those who participate.
This will be a great opportunity to give to an organization that helps our community in many ways. The Red Cross not only handles 1/2 of the United States supply through these blood donations, but offers CPR classes, first aid classes and other health and safety programs, they provide food, shelter and emotional support to victims of disasters such as earthquakes, tornadoes and floods.
What do you need to donate blood? It's very simple!
1. A blood donor card and driver's license or two forms of identification, especially if you are a first time donor are required to check-in.
2. Donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in reasonably good health.
3. Donating blood involves four basic steps: Registration, Medical history and mini-physical, Donation and at the end a nice Refreshment.
Any information given to the Red Cross during the donation process is confidential.
Here is just one example of how a blood drive recently helped a person. Thirty units of red blood cells and five units of platelets were transfused to a car accident victim and saved their life. Had generous donations not been made his/her family would be attending a funeral instead spending time with their loved one. Thanks to the many dedicated Stoddard County residents who have given over the years, the blood products were available for these types of patients and other like them.
The Red Cross needs your help! Donate today! Visit www.redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-733-2767 for more information on how to volunteer or donate. We hope to see you at the Rotary Club Blood Drive Thursday.

Co-chiar Belinda Worley honored George Cox of Dexter with the Survivor of the Year Award. It was George's idea so many years ago to begin the Survivor's Dinner. He said he would personally bring anyone who wanted to come!
The dinner was hosted this year by Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Everyone enjoyed chicken, loin, baked potato, baked beans, coleslaw, rolls, and a delicious dessert. Compliments of Sacred Hearth Catholic Church, Leon's Deter Queen, Dexter BBQ, Hickory Log, Fiddlers, and Bernie Express.
Don't forget Relay for Life is Friday, May 1st from 4:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m. with the Survivor's lap at 6:00 p.m. at East Park in Dexter.

On Friday afternoon at the annual Stoddard County Relay for Life they will have several new Lincolns for you to test drive.
Each test drive will earn Relay $20 to help with fighting cancer! Please come and support them and there is NO obligation to purchase, just test drive!
It only takes a few minutes of your time and Relay could receive $6,000 to help them make their event as successful as possible. One person per household please and then once you test drive join the celebration and REMEMBER to FIGHT BACK and support those who are survivors and caregivers and remember those we lost to this terrible disease!!
