Poplar Bluff, Missouri - The Patrons of the Arts Society continues its 2014-2015 season with the return of a world-renowned troupe of high-flying, death-defying Chinese Acrobats to the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on Friday, December 12, at 7 p.m.
This will be the second performance of The National Acrobats of the People’s Republic of China at the Tinnin Center in the past five years. The troupe has toured 500 cities in over 70 countries since its inception in 1951, and has inspired generations of performers, including the creators of Cirque Du Soleil.
“The National Acrobats are an absolutely extraordinary group of performers with an almost superhuman set of skills,” said Tim Thompson, Director of the Tinnin Fine Arts Center. “They dazzled the crowd the last time we hosted them, and I expect that their performance this time will be even more brilliant.”
The National Acrobats of The People’s Republic of China were founded in 1951 and have been one of the most acclaimed acrobatic troupes in China. In 1972, the Company visited the United States with 72 artists, and was invited as guests to the White House by President Richard Nixon. As performing arts ambassadors, the Company played a key role in the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States
Tickets are $10 each and are available in limited amounts at the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce, Dexter Chamber of Commerce, the college Financial Services office, and at the door. The show is expected to sell out.
