Dexter, Missouri - Since the beginning of January, winter storms and freezing temperatures have resulted in more than 450 American Red Cross blood drive cancellations and nearly 14,000 uncollected blood and platelet donations. There is an urgent need for your blood type. Your donation can help ensure blood is available for patients close to home or in other areas affected by the weather.

Today from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Walgreens in Dexter will host a Blood Drive.  They are located at 904 W. Bus. 60.  Please drop in or make an appointment by calling 1-800-733-2767.  Remember to drink plenty of water prior to your visit and have a good meal as well.

We look forward to seeing you!  Save a life today by donating!

A Letter From Riley Jo Rickman Read by Krysta Winstead

Dexter, Missouri - The outpouring of support and love has amazed Riley Jo Rickman as she sits at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis "taking care of business" and getting treatments for her recently diagnosed Leukemia.

She wanted to let everyone know how thankful she is so she wrote a letter yesterday and with the help of her friend, Krysta Winstead, it was read to a packed Bearcat Event Center during the half-time show of the boys final home game tonight.

The following paragraphs are from the heart as only Riley could write:

"Since being diagnosed with leukemia 5 short days ago, God's overwhelming love has surrounded me and my family. Something that was meant to tear me down has only made me shine brighter and there is absolutely no way that I could say that without this community. Our small, but mighty town has rallied around me in an unbelievable way. There is absolutely no way to thank you for all that you have done to make this easier for me and my family but I can try. So thank you, so much, for everything."

"This town and this team have the power to do anything. So kick butt, take names, and get a little sassy tonight Bearcats."

With all my love,
Riley Jo

Dexter, Missouri - We need your help identifying this house built back in the early 1900s in Dexter.  It is believed to have been built by Zeb Chandler and was located somewhere in the city.

An individual from Kentucky recently contacted City Administrator Mark Stidham asking for information as to whether the home is still standing.

If anyone has knowledge or other photographs of this home please contact Stidham at City Hall 573-624-5959 or email a photo and the information to Dee Loflin at news@showmetimes.com.  Any informational would be helpful.
