Dexter, Missouri-The Dexter Kiwanis will hold its’ 1st four person golf scramble on Friday, August 23rd, at 1:00 p.m. The scramble will be a shotgun start at the Hidden Trails Country Club.
The entry fee is $50 per player and this includes the green fees and a meal after the scramble
Flights and Pay Outs are determined the day of the scramble
Hole Sponsorships will be $100

Wappapello Lake- Wappapello Lake is sponsoring a Mobility Impaired Modern Gun Deer Hunt on October 19 and 20, 2013, in partnership with the Missouri Department of Conservation and the national Wild Turkey Federation. Applications are being accepted through August 30, 2013. The drawing will be conducted on September 3, 2013. Applicants must be at least 11 years of age and have a permanent physical condition that severely impairs their mobility, such as paralysis or amputation of lower extremities, and requires the assistance of a wheelchair, braces, crutches or similar aids of mobility.
First-time applicants must also provide a letter from a physician to verify the applicant's physical condition that severely impairs their mobility without proper assistance. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Hunters will be selected by random drawing for the two-day hunt to be conducted at various locations. Successful applicants will be notified by mail and a list of five alternates will be drawn in the event that some hunters are not able to attend after being selected.
Applicants must possess a valid Missouri managed firearms deer hunting permit for the Wappapello Lake Mobility Impaired Hunt. Hunters will be permitted to have an assistant in the blind during the hunt, but guides and assistants will not be permitted to possess firearms or other killing devices. Hunters and their assistants are restricted to the blind area only and may not hunt outside these parameters. Missouri hunter education certification requirements are applicable. The hunter and their guide or assistant must wear a solid blaze orange vest and hat at all times while hunting in the blind and during ingress and egress of the hunting area.

Wappapello Lake - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Wappapello Lake has announced the annual duck blind drawing. Registration will be on August 17th at 1 p.m. in the multi-purpose room of the Bill Emerson Memorial Visitor Center. Anyone wishing to place a floating blind on the lake needs to be signed up before 1 p.m. Those not signed up by then will be required to wait until the drawing and placement process has concluded.
Upon conclusion of the placement process, late arrivals will be allowed to register and choose a location for their blind. Blinds will be provided by the applicant and must meet the "Minimum Standards for Floating Duck Blinds.” The registration fee for a duck blind is $15 and applicants must bring cash, in the exact amount, or a personal check or money order made payable to "FAO, USACE, St. Louis District."
Hunters may obtain an application form and a copy of the "Minimum Standards for Floating Duck Blinds” at the Wappapello Lake Project Office. Permitted duck blinds may be placed on the lake after Labor Day. Anyone interested in registering a duck blind and cannot attend the drawing, may contact the Natural Resources Management Department after the drawing at (573) 222-8562, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A gradual lake draw-down begins on December 15, 2013, and continues until the lake reaches conservation pool in accordance with the Wappapello Lake Water Control Plan. Remember that all blinds affected by low water levels must be relocated to areas that will not become dry during the draw-down.

Puxico, Missouri - The Puxico Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 7822 will be the sponsor for the Little Miss Puxico and Miss Puxico. The contests will be held at the Puxico Veterans Park during the 67th Puxico VFW Homecoming.
Puxico Homecoming Pageants
The Pre-Queen Contest Ceremonies will be held Tuesday, August 13th at 7:00 p.m.
Little Miss Puxico will began at 7:30 p.m. following the ceremony
The Miss Puxico Contest will follow immediately after the Little Miss contest.
Little Miss Puxico
- All contestants must be entering kindergarten or enrolled in the first grade at Puxico R-8 School for the 2013 fall term at the time of registration.
- The parents of all contestants must be residents of the Puxico R-8 School District for at least three months prior to the registration deadline.
Miss Puxico Pageant
- The contestant is open to all girls age 16 to seniors in high school. All contestants must be 16 years old before Aug. 1st.
- Contestants must be registered for classes at Puxico R-8 School for the 2013 fall term at the time of registration.
- The parents of all contestants must be residents of the Puxico R-8 School District for at least three months prior to the registration deadline.
- Contestants must never have been married, and shall not be a parent or presently pregnant.
- Trophies will be awarded and a special incentive of four, $25 gift certificates to local businesses will be given to the 2013 Miss Puxico.
Baby Miss Pageant
- The Baby contests will be held on Friday, August 16th at 10 a.m. in Veterans Park.
- The Puxico Baby Contest is limited to Puxico residents.
- The parents of the babies in this contest must be residents of the Puxico R-8 School District for at least three months prior to registration deadline.
Grandparent’s Delight Contest
- This contest is open to anyone, there are no restrictions to contestants except age and meeting the registration deadline.
There will be four age groups in each contest.
Birth-5 months,
6-11 months
12-17 months
18-23 months
The child will be registered in the category according to the age he/she will be the day of the contest. If a child has had his /her second birthday, he/she will not be eligible to enter the contests.
Registration for these contests will be held from 9-12, 1-4 on Weds, Aug. 14 & Thurs. Aug. 15, 2013 at the Puxico VFW Hall
Birth certificates must be presented when registering.
Registration must be completed by parents of Puxico babies at the registration site.
No registration forms will be allowed to leave the registration site for signatures.
Anyone can register babies for the Grandparent’s Delight contest.
Registration fee will be $5 for all contests.
