Dexter, Missouri - Keller Public Library offered Fishing Classes sponsored by the Missouri Department of Conservation on four Saturdays in September.
If the youngster attended all four Saturdays they were eligible for a prize at the end of the classes.
Children who completed all four classes received a $25 Bass Pro Gift Card.

Dexter, Missouri - Stoddard County native, Carolyn Morgan Abbott, donated a children's book about bullying to Keller Public Library. October is National Anti-Bullying Month in the United States.
"The Little Excavator" was written to teach children how someone feels while being bullied and encourages children to accept others who are different from themselves.
As a child Carolyn Abbott was a victim of bullying for her extreme curly hair and her wearing glasses. With this, Abbott designed a book to teach others compassion.
"Children are committing suicide at an alarming rate. If we can teach them to have compassion for others while they are young, perhaps we can save our children," said Abbott. "The Little Excavator" educates children."
"I would love for children to grow up realizing that there are all kinds of people and other kids that are of different sizes, personalities, looks, etc." continued Abbott. "We can all enjoy life together and have many friends."
The book may be found in the Children's Library at Keller Public Library in Dexter.

Dexter, Missouri - Eldon Stafford was born October 12, 1912 just two days before former President Theodore Roosevelt was shot in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Titanic sank that year, Alaska became a U.S. territory, Arizona became a state, and for the first time an airplane was featured on the U.S. postage stamp.
Eldon has seen a lot of change over the past 105 years.
"I think electricity was the greatest change in my lifetime," stated Stafford. "It has helped a lot of people and because of it the world changed for the better."
His daughter, Janet Karam, who lives in Memphis, Tennessee visited with her dad today at Cypress Point for his birthday. She said he moved from his home in Essex to Cypress Point on December 12th at the age of 104. Until he was 103 he had always had a garden and up until just a few years ago he mowed his own lawn.
Mr. Stafford had worked for the United States Postal Service for more than 30 years and became the Postmaster at Essex until his retirement.
He was one of seven children. He had three older siblings and three younger siblings making him "that' middle child! The oldest was a girl, then five boys, and the last born was also a girl. His momma had her hands full back in those days. Of those siblings Eldon's brother T.G. "Mike" Stafford is 102 years old and his sister Lola Reynolds is 96 years old and still going strong.
"I don't feel any different than when I turned 100," commented Stafford. "The good Lord has been very good to me."
"I never smoked and the only time I had whiskey was when I was sick," continued Stafford. "I would have some whiskey before bed and when I woke up the next morning I was better."
Eldon loves to have visitors, enjoys playing solitaire and doing word search puzzles. He also attends daily exercise classes.

Dexter, Missouri - There will be a Benefit 3-Person Golf Scramble at the Hidden Trails Country Club in honor of Adam Pixley on Saturday, October 21, 2017.
Adam has cancer and as many of you know the medical bills are mounting. This is a perfect way to show your support for his family and to have a good time on the golf course. All proceeds will to to help him and his family with medical expenses.
Cost is $75 per player with optional skins game with tee-off at 10:00 a.m. There will also be a 50/50 drawing and beverages on the course.

Dexter, Missouri - There will be a Moonlight Gala Benefit for Darlene Rowland on Thursday, October 26th at the Events on the Hill in Dexter, Missouri from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Darlene loves Halloween, so this is the perfect fundraiser for her. It will be a SPOOKTACULAR event for sure!
Tickets include food, music, door prizes and various other activities. There will be a Witch Costume Contest also with a grand prize of $100.00.
Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at Gregory's Two East in historic downtown Dexter.
Music will be provide by Llona and Kevin Sadler.
You can dress in costume, but it is not required.
This event is limited to adults or children 12 years and older.
This benefit will be matched by the Modern Woodmen of America up to $2,500.
