DAR Hosts Southeast Missouri District Meeting
Ste. Genevieve, Missouri - The Missouri State Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution held their Southeast District Meeting in St. Genevieve, Missouri on Thursday, September 21st.

Chapters share the activities and accomplishments from the past year in their efforts to promote education, patriotism and historic preservation.  Workshops are provided to update the members on new technology, committee opportunities, and special events scheduled for the coming year.

To encourage education of the Constitution in our schools and to recognize Constitution Week - September17th - 23rd.

Crowley’s Ridge Chapter provided more than nine hundred Constitution booklets to the fifth grade and high school government classes in all seven county school districts.  

Members met on September 14th with Shirley Carney stamping the chapter name in each booklet.  Other members counted and packaged the booklets for each school and inserted a letter prepared for each teacher.  

Betty McClintock delivered the booklets to Dexter and Bernie schools.  

Frances Moore and Shirley Richard delivered them to Puxico, Bloomfield, Advance, Bell City and Richland.

Dexter, Missouri - Cruise into Dexter for the annual Fall Car Show on Stoddard Street in downtown Dexter on September 30th from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Bring your car, truck, motorcycle, or tractor.  There is no judging, just a fantastic social event.

There are areas designated for kids car show and games.  Bring your pedal cars, battery operated cars or perhaps build your own vehicle.  At 7:30 p.m. they will create a drive-in experience for the kids and feature the movie "Cars"!

Dave Bowman an Elvis impersonator will perform throughout the evening.

Special shout-out to Show-Me Butts BBQ & More, Southern Cross, Kona Ice, Abuela's Mexican Kitchen, Tim's Dawg House who will be available to quench your thirst and feed your tummy!

There will also be a bounce house with slide for the children.

Proclamation Signed Observing Constitution Week

Constitution Week Proclamation was signed by Presiding Commissioner Greg Mathis on Monday, September 18, 2017 at the commissioners meeting.  

Government officials from the local, county, state and national level are ask by the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution to recognize September 17th as the 230th anniversary of the signing of the Constitution.

This proclamation closes with these words:

I, Greg Mathis, Presiding Commissioner, of the County of Stoddard in the State of Missouri, do hereby proclaim September 17 through 23, 2017 to be CONSTITUTION WEEK
AND ask our citizens to reaffirm the ideals the Framers of the Constitution had in 1787 by vigilantly protecting the freedoms guaranteed to us through this guardian of our liberties, remembering that lost rights many never be regained.

Crowley’s Ridge Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution encourage the citizens of our county to learn more about this magnificent document, the Constitution of the United States.

Annual Chili and Stew Supper on Tuesday Evening

Dexter, Missouri - The annual Chili & Stew Supper hosted by the Stoddard County Nutrition Center will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.  Monies will got to paint the outside of the building and install a new floor in the kitchen area.

Adults dinners are $7.00 each and children 10 and under are just $3.00.

The Dexter Nutrition Center is located at 23 West Stoddard St. in downtown Dexter.

This is an all you can eat cornbread, stew and chili with homemade dessert and a drink.  Dine in or carry out.
