
Dexter, Missouri - The 20th Annual St. Patrick's Day Ecumenical Corned Beef & Cabbage Feed w/General Store will be Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Parish Center in Dexter.
The meal includes corned beef and cabbage, parsleyed potatoes, cornbread, homemade dessert and a drink for $8.00. Carry Outs are available and FREE delivery with a minimum order of 10 meals. Children six and under eat for free.
"There will be homemade and handcrafted items, baked goods, breads, pies, cakes, honey, BBQ sauce, pecans, and more at the General Stored," stated committee member Karen Stevens. There may even be some entertainment between 11 - 1 p.m. if everything goes as planned.
This event is sponsored by 14 Stoddard County Churches: Broadwater Church of the Brethern, Dexter Evangelical Free Church, Dexter First Assembly of God, Faith Lutheran, First Christian Church, DOC, Bernie Christian Church, First United Methodist Church, Sacred Heart Catholic, Sadler's Chapel United Methodist, First Baptist Church, First Nazarene Church, Risen Church, and Southwest Nazarene Church.
All proceeds will go to the Stoddard County Gospel Mission, Stoddard County Children's Home, Meals on Wheels/Stoddard County Nutrition Center, and Stoddard County ARC.

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter Chamber of Commerce held a Ribbon Cutting for new business DexMO Diagnostics, LLC located at 1025 Arvin Road on Tuesday, February 28, 2017.
DexMo Diagnostics, LLC specializes in Non-DOT and DOT Drug Screenings, DAN and Genetic Testing, Wellness Testing, Infidelity Testing Cancer Markers, Breath Alcohol Testing, general Blood tests, Patient Direct Lab Testing, and more.

Bloomfield, Missouri - The Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting at the Bloomfield Living Center (formerly Golden Living Center) on Friday, February 17, 2017. The facility is under new ownership and new management.
Bloomfield Living Center was recently purchased by Health Systems Inc. in September of 2016. Michelle Chism is now the administrator for the facility as well.
The facility is located at 606 W Missouri St. It is a small facility with 60 beds and has for-profit, corporate ownership and takes both Medicare and Medicaid.
They also offer comprehensive inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs with specialized programming built for seniors including fitness training, dementia management and Lymphedema treatment.

Bloomfield, Missouri - The Bloomfield Area Nutrition Center crowned their 2017 Valentine Queen this week. Several ladies were nominated and patrons voted by placing dollars and coins in their voting containers.
This is an annual fundraiser and more than $150 was raised for the Bloomfield Area Nutrition Center.
Mildred Palmer was announced the Queen. She raised more than $126 for this great cause. Her attendants are Rosemary Walker and Stella DeJournett.

"Organization was formed through the willing effort of several willing individuals in the Bloomfield area to meet a need for the areas Senior Citizens. The initial meetings took place during 2007. Town Hall meetings indicated interest and community surveys indicated need. A Board of Directors, a Not-for-profit status was approved by the State of Missouri, and 501(c)(3) status was received from the Federal Government. 0, 2010 was a pivital year for BANC when the organization began serving meals twice monthly in the basement of the Bloomfield City Hall. Support expanded, donations increased, and a building was donated and renovated by volunteers. In January 2010 the first meal was served at the new center on Delaware Street in Bloomfield, MO. BANC serves approximately 65 individuals every Wednesday. the average age is over 70 years."
BANC will host a fundraiser Breakfast on March 11th from 6:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children 10 and under. Carry-Outs will be available (573) 895-2142.

Dexter, Missouri - It's never easy becoming a parent, but knowing your child will be born with medical issues it can be very stressful. Kyle Stearns, graduate of Dexter High School, and his wife Taylor, are expecting their first child. Baby Emmett should make his appearance April 3, 2017; however he will require immediate surgery.
Emmett has developed a large bowel blockage and will require surgery when born and have at least a two month hospital stay at Children's Hospital in St. Louis. Also, he will come home with a colostomy and no immune system and will require special care and services until his body repairs itself.
They are looking at the possibility of two or more surgeries the first year of his precious life. All prayers are appreciated for both family and Emmett!
