Scouting For Food
Cubs With a Cause
Tiger Cub Scout Truman Krapf was out bright and early Saturday day morning with his dad Eric, distributing bags for Scouting For Food. Truman and his fellow Tiger Cubs distributed special plastic bags to homes on Saturday. If you received a bag from the Boy Scouts and Tiger Cubs this last Saturday, the boys will be back on Saturday, Nov. 19, to pick up canned food and other non-perishable food items. All donations will be given by the Boy Scouts to the Stoddard County Rescue Mission. Scouting for Food is the largest one-day food drive in the Boy Scouts of America. Started in 1985 in the St. Louis area, Scouting for Food has expanded to other councils across the country. More than 43 million items have been collected since 1985. Each year, Scouts, leaders and parents collect approximately two million items that will serve approximately 500 pantries within the Greater St. Louis Area Council. Thanks, Scouts, for living up to the Boy Scout Slogan to "Do A Good Turn Daily"! A local spokesman for the Boy Scouts report the young men ran out of bags Saturday were not able to blanket the community as they had hoped. However, the Boy Scouts will, indeed, by back out Saturday, Nov. 19 and local residents may still donate food. It is suggested to just leave the food out (even if it is not on a BSA Scouting For Food bag) and the Boy Scouts will pick it up and deliver to the mission to help others.
