Dexter Board of Education Meeting Minutes - September 15, 2020

Dexter, MO - The Dexter Board of Education met at a regular meeting on September 15, 2020 at 6 p.m  Below are the notes from that meeting.

Call to Order/Roll Call/Pledge  The Board President announced the meeting is to begin, ascertains the attendance status of all board members present, and then leads in the saying of the Pledge of Allegiance. 

Consent Agenda:  The consent agenda was approved.

Public Comments:  There were no public comments made.    

Old Business:  

A.   The board approved policies 2640, 2763, 5330, and 6145.

New Business: 

A. The board approved the Independent Auditors Contract for 2021-2023 with Stanley, Dirnberger, Hopper, and Associates, LLC.  

B.  The board approved an Essential Worker Declaration previously approved by the county commissioners.  This would declare educational workers essential in Stoddard County.  This declaration would allow educational workers to report to work  if they so choose as long as they wear a mask after a close  contact.  If the following stipulations exist, then the worker must stay home: *Tested positive for COVID-19 *Worker is symptomatic for COVID-19 *Someone in the immediate household has tested positive for *COVID-19 *Utilize substitute teachers, when necessary

C. Assistant Superintendent Report 

D.  Superintendent’s Report

E. Next Regular Board Meeting is October 20, 2020.  

In Closed Session:

1. The board approved the following substitutes for the 20-21 school year.

Sandra Clark

Brian Becker

Emily Norris

Julia Hahn

2. The board approved the hiring of Sarah Warren as a part-time parent educator in the PAT program.  

3. The board approved the hiring of Priscilla West as a bus aide.  

4. The board approved the letter of resignation from Emily Norris effective 9/25/2020 as the Central library aide.

Items at the conclusion of Executive Session

2020 DHS Fall Senior Night Featuring Brittany Baldwin

Dexter, MO - On Friday, September 4, 2020 the Dexter High School honored fall athletes at Charles Bland Stadium.  Due to COVID-19 senior night was moved from the last home game to the first home game of the year.  Football, volleyball, girls tennis, football cheer, cross country and band members and their families were announced prior to kick-off against the Sikeston Bulldogs.

Brittany Baldwin is the daughter of Tim and Hannah Baldwin and Kim Walls.

She is a member of the DHS Marching Band.

Her future plans are to attend Missouri State University.

Her most memorable moment at DHS is when she played mafia on an all-state audition trip and was called Brenda. She's been called that ever since.

Shelby Curran is the daughter of Michelle and Tony Curran.

She is a member of the DHS Marching Band.

Her future plans are to attend Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri where she will major in Criminal Justice. 

Her most memorable moment at DHS is when on the first day of band camp this year, Mr. Clay thought she wanted to punch him because apparently she was giving him a death glare so she ended up scaring the brand new band teacher.
