4th Quarter Honor Roll for 3rd Graders at Central Elementary Announced

Dexter, Missouri - Central Elementary School announced their 2019 4th Quarter Honor Roll students for 3rd grade.  Students must maintain a B average to be on the Honor Roll each quarter.

Making the honor roll is not as easy as one might think.  Central Elementary students who are high achievers acquire and develop excellent study habits and skills, especially in time management.  

Successful, lifelong learners set aside a time and a space every day to do their homework. Student who can manage their daily workload have a better chance of attaining academic success.

Designing Women Awards Over $5K to Students
The Designing Women Foundation awarded five $1,000 scholarships to college-bound female seniors for their academic achievements on Monday, May 13, at the Bloodworth House.
 
Poplar Bluff High School recipients of the annual scholarships were: Cara Bubanovich, who plans to major in nursing at Missouri State University; Marina Johnston, who plans to major in nursing at Southeast Missouri State University; Katelyn Moeller, who also plans to major in nursing at Central Methodist University; Jillian Page, who plans to major in international finance at the University of Alabama; and Sophia Rowland, who plans to major in engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology.
 
Winners of the nonprofit organization’s Charlie Classic Reading Contest who read the most select literary works were: PBHS junior Caitlin Dollins, who won a $300 bank card for reading 11 books; PBJHS eighth grader Charlee Deaton, who won a $300 for reading 33 books; and eighth grader Emmalein Pendley, who won $150 for reading 21 books.
 
The Designing Women Foundation is dedicated to the cultural and educational enrichment of deserving young people, primarily women. The Charlie Classic Reading Contest is open to all High School students who read at least 10 classics, and Junior High students who read a minimum of 20 books from the literature list.

Courtney Potts Makes Dean's List and Graduates from SEMO
Courtney Potts of Dexter, MO, has been named to the Southeast Missouri State University Dean's List for academic achievement during the spring 2019 semester.

Students named to the list earned at least a 3.75 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, completed at least 12 hours of standard graded credit, achieved no grade below a B and received no failing grades in enrolled courses, including credit/no credit or pass/fail courses.

She also graduated with an Early Childhood Education degree from SEMO and will begin teaching first grade at Southwest Elementary in the fall.

She is a 2015 graduated of Dexter High School and is the daughter of Peggy and Randy Potts.
