Puxico School Board Votes in New Officers, Swears in New Board Member
Puxico, Missouri - In a special meeting of the Puxico School Board held on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 the school board reorganized.

The two members elected to the board were sworn in. They were Kristi Siler, who was re-elected, and new board member Michael Clubb.

The following officers were elected as well:

Chad Payne – president

Brian Robinson – vice president

John Davis – treasurer

Kristi Siler – secretary

The board also approved donations to both project prom and the BETA Club. A $250 donation was made to project prom. 

The Puxico BETA Club approached the board to ask for donations to help fund its trip to the national competition in Oklahoma City in June. Eight Puxico students advanced past the state competition to earn the right to compete at the national level. The board donated $100 per student for a total of an $800 donation.

The Board also voted to approve a new insurance plan with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield for the district.

In other business:

• The 2019-2020 Puxico/Mingo Tech calendar was approved as presented.

• The meal plan for the 2019-2020 school year was approved.

In executive session:

The board offered a probationary teacher contract to Samantha Ward for the 2019-2020 school year.

The next meeting is scheduled for May 9, however due to Puxico Kindergarten Graduation being held on the same evening the board voted to move the meeting to Monday, May 13.

2019 DHS Prom King and Queen Selected
Dexter, Missouri - On Saturday, April 13, 2019 the Dexter High School held its annual prom.

The evening opened with the Grand March followed by the prom in the Bearcat Event Center.

This year's Project prom was hosted by the parents and took place at Dogwood Social in Cape Girardeau with breakfast at Dexter's American Steakhouse.

Bloomfield School Board Meeting Minutes April 2019

Bloomfield, Missouri - The Bloomfield School board recently held its April meeting and reorganized.

Louise Causey and Vince Lockhart were sworn in to begin their terms on the school board. The board then elected the following officers:

Louise Causey – president

Trevor Pulley – vice president

Vince Lockhart – secretary

Scott Gibbs – treasurer

Riley Christian, Ashton White and Will Robison presented their regional History Day projects to the board. The three students have qualified to compete at the State History Day contest on April 27 in Columbia.

The board voted to extend the OPAA! contract through the 2019-20 school year.

Executive session

The board:

• accepted the resignation/retirement of Lori Vaughn and Rhonda Slaughter effective at the end of the 2018-19 school year.

• hired substitute teacher Samantha Huckeby.

• hired Samantha Huckeby as an elementary teacher for the 2019-20 school year.

• hired Ethan Huckeby as a high school science teacher for the 2019-20 school year.

• hired Che Jones as a special education teacher for the 2019-20 school year.

• hired both non certified staff and extracurricular staff for the 2019-20 school year.

Bloomfield Elementary School Dress-Up Days for Map Testing Week

Bloomfield, Missouri - Show Your Spirit During Map Testing Week!!  Bloomfield Elementary students can dress up to show support for their 3rd and 4th grade classes as they take the State Map Test the week of April 23rd - April 26th.

Tuesday, April 23rd - Mustache Day - Don't make a mustache and work hard on the test.  3rd grade and 4th graders only will get a mustache to wear!

Wednesday, April 24th - Hat and Shades Day - Be cool during the Map Test!  3rd and 4th graders will get a crazy pair of shades.  K-4 students can wear hats and shades.

Thursday, April 25th - Olympic Day - Bring home the Map Gold!  3rd and 4th graders only will get a gold medal.  K-4 students can wear athletic gear to school.

Friday, April 26th - Wildcat Day!! - All students wear Purple and Gold!!  Show your Wildcat Spirit!!!

Dexter, Missouri - T.S. Hill Middle School has announced their 2019 3rd Quarter Honor Roll students for 8th grade.  Students must maintain a B average to be on the Honor Roll each quarter.

Successful, lifelong learners set aside a time and a space every day to do their homework. Student who can manage their daily workload have a better chance of attaining academic success.
