DHS Announces 2019 Prom King and Queen Candidates
Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter High School has named its candidates for prom King and Queen. Something new to DHS this year.

The winners will be crowned Saturday evening April 13th at the Dexter High School prom.

The candidates are back row from left to right: Travis Propst, Andreus Garrett, Brock Simmons, Tristan Williams, Nate Gargas, Jordan Adams, Luke Boyer, James Robinson and Caleb Hoggard.

Bernie Elementary Positive Office Referrals for Week April 8, 2019

Bernie, Missouri - Bernie Elementary Positive Office Referrals were awarded this week.  These students were rewarded for their good behavior!

Students who earn such an honor also received a Subway Sandwich Gift Card and a POR Certificate.

These students were referred for displaying positive behavior!

Brayden (3rd) worked hard on the writing part of his reading test. 

Lynlei & Logan (3rd) are both hard workers. 

Gracie (K) was kind to a sad friend.

Riley (K) worked hard in reading class.

SJ (K) was kind and held the door open for others. 

Karllet (2nd) made a gift for another student.

Kaylee (1st) comforted a friend who was upset. She gave that friend her piece of bubblegum.

Taylor (1st) has been making good choices.

Jackson (2nd) had a good week.

Dyson (3rd) helped a teacher push all of her chairs in before he left the classroom.

Jazelle (2nd) had a good week.

Bryce, Taylor, & Macie (6th) all made great choices last week.

Savannah (5th) is well-liked by everyone in the class, she follows instructions, and always tries her best.

Dexter High School Cross Country Academic All State Members

Dexter, Missouri - Coach Leonard Morse announced today that the several Dexter High School Cross Country team athletes were honored as Academic All-State members.

Eligible runners had to compete in a state meet either District, Sectionals, or State.  All of the recipients competed at District with Marg Nea qualifying for the State Meet.

Each recipient had to have an ACT score of 25 or higher or SAT score of 1150 or higher or 3.6 GPA non-rounded, non weighted and after the fall semester.

All eight of the recipients qualified with their GPAs.

Special Meeting of the Dexter School Board Held Thursday

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter School Board met in a special meeting on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 6 p.m.  Below are the official minutes provided by C.A. Counts, Superintendent of Dexter Schools.

Call to Order/Roll Call/Pledge  The Board President announced the meeting is to begin, ascertains the attendance status of all board members with Mr. Rick Williams being absent.  He then leads in the saying of the Pledge of Allegiance. 

4.  New Business: 

A.  The board approved the contract between CTS and the Dexter School for the construction project.   

B.  The board approved a resolution to allow the district to reimburse in self for capital expenditures in connection with the building project.

This reimbursement will be from proceeds of the general obligation bonds approved on April 2, 2019.

C.  The board discussed the structure of the lease finance plan for the construction project.  A final decision will be made at the  April 18, 2019 regular board meeting.

D.  The board discussed the marketing of the bonds that were approved during the April 2, 2019 election.

E.  The board approved MEUHP health insurance for the 2019-20 school year.  The plans approved were HSA 6550, HSA 5000, HSA 4000 and PPO 3500.     

In Closed Session:

1.  The board approved resignation letters effective at the end of the 18-19 school year for the following individuals:

        Chad Allen - MS and HS girls basketball head coach

Lauren Powers - MS girls basketball

Renda Burton - Bus Driver

Celia Keene - Aide effective April 12, 2019

2. The board approved employment of the following certified staff for the 2019-20 school year:

Bethany Slavings - Central Elementary Sp. Ed.

Tammy Eifert - MS/HS Sp. Ed

Christy Griffin - HS ELA

Amanda Long - HS Social Studies

3. The board approve the following certified staff transfers for the 2019-20 school year.

Lindsay Woods to HS Sp. Ed.

Leonard Morse to HS Business

4. The board approved Chad Allen as the HS Boys Basketball Head Coach for the 2019-20 school year.
