Dexter School Board Meeting Minutes Released for February 2019
Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter School Board met for a regular monthly meeting on February 19, 2019. Resignations for boys basketball coach, asst. football coach and one teacher were accepted along with some new hires for the District.

Below are the minutes for that meeting released by Superintendent C.A. Counts.

Regular Board Meeting Notes
February 19, 2019
6:00 PM

Call to Order/Roll Call/Pledge  The Board President announced the meeting is to begin, ascertains the attendance status of all board members with Mr. Rick Williams, Mr. Herman Morse being absent.  He then leads in the saying of the Pledge of Allegiance. 

4.  Consent Agenda:   The Consent Agenda was approved.

5.  Public Comments:  There were no public comments made.    

6.  Old Business:  
        A.    None

7.  New Business: 
A.  The board approved a resolution adopting the Stoddard Co. 2019 Hazard Mitigation Plan Update.   
B.  The board approved budget amendments for the 2018-19 school year.
C.  The board approved summer dead period for all MSHSAA activities August 3rd thru 11th 2019.

D.  The board approve A Cut Above lawn care as the district lawn mower for the 2019-20 school year.

8.  Discussion Items:
     
     A.   CTS gave an update on the bond and building project.
       
     B.   The nurse's report was given to the board.

     C.  The building principals gave their reports to the board.
         
     D.  The superintendent gave his report to the board.
 
     E.   The SEMO Superintendent Association 59th Annual Banquet is set for April 25th at 6:00 at The Southerner in Cape.
     
    F.  The March board meeting was set for March 19, 2019 at 6:00.   
     
In Closed Session:

1. The board approved substitute additions for 2018-19.

2.  The board approved resignation letters effective at the end of the school year.

4. The board approved internal transfers for the 2019-20 school year.

        Stephanie Monroe to HS Art
        Mauri Kennedy to 2nd Grade

5. The approved employment of Special Services Aide for    remainder of 2018-19 school year.

6. Approve employment of Bus Driver for the 2018-19 school year.

7. Approve employment of 1st Grade Teacher for the 2019-20 school year.

8. Approved employment of Vocational Agriculture teacher for the remainder of the 2018-19 school year.

9. The board approved the summer school director for the 2019 summer school.

DHS Winning Advisory Class for Improvement to Boon Park

Dexter, Missouri - Dexter High School hosted a dollar drive for improvements at Boon Park. Theses students worked hard and collected the most money.  They are students in Mrs. Pfeffer's Advisory Class.

Southwest Elementary to Celebrate Dr. Seuss Reading Week

Dexter, Missouri - Southwest Elementary will celebrate Dr. Seuss Reading Week beginning Monday, February 25, 2019 thru March 1st.

Each day will be themed after a Dr. Seuss Book.

Monday is "The Sleep Book" so everyone wear their pajamas!

Tuesday is "Green Eggs and Ham" Everyone wear green!

Wednesday is "Wacky Wednesday"  Everyone dress Seuss style including wacky pattersn or your favorite character!

Thursday is "The Lorax" so wear your orange and a mustache!

Friday is "The Cat in the Hat" Wear black, white, or red and a COOL hat!!

Bernie Positive Office Referrals for Week February 19th

Bernie, Missouri - Bernie Elementary Positive Office Referrals were awarded this week.  These students were rewarded for their good behavior!

Students who earn such an honor also received a Subway Sandwich Gift Card and a POR Certificate.

These students were referred for displaying positive behavior!

Conner (1st) is a good friend and helps others carry heavy things down the hall.

Mason (4th) is always a hard worker.

McKenzie (3rd) helped a friend when they were upset.

Ember and Gabriella (3rd) are always working hard.

Yaritza (5th) stopped and helped another student when he spilled his art box out of his locker. 

Ashtin (2nd) helped another student with her math page and played with a new student at recess.

Chloe (2nd) played with a new student at recess.

NOT PICTURED:  Brooks (1st) is always kind and sets a good example for others.  Amelia (2nd) helped another student with their money worksheet.
