“Alice in Wonderland” to be performed at Three Rivers College

“Alice in Wonderland” to be performed at Three Rivers College
The classic play “Alice in Wonderland” to be performed at Three Rivers College

Center Stage, the Three Rivers College community theater group, will perform “Alice in Wonderland” November 1 – 3 at 7 p.m. and November 4 at 2 p.m. at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center. This play tells the topsy-turvy tale of Alice, who must find her way through a maze of incredible and suspenseful adventures to discover a thief and save the White Rabbit.

“’Alice in Wonderland’ is a classic enjoyed by people of all ages,” said Robert Abney, Director of the Tinnin Fine Arts Center. “We’re excited to bring this timeless performance to the community, and we have a great cast bringing it to life.” Six actors from “The Little Mermaid” are returning in this show, and two cast members have participated in The Dance Studio. “Alice in Wonderland” features a diverse group of cast members ranging in ages from 11 to 60.

A Three Rivers College alumni, Carlie Dillinger is excited to direct her first production for Center Stage. Dillinger has directed various productions such as “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Cheaper by the Dozen,” and various one-act productions for the education system. She also has participated in various productions with Willard Community Theatre, Missouri State University, and Center Stage. She holds a degree in Psychology from Central Methodist University, and a degree from Missouri State University in Speech/Theatre Education. She currently teaches fifth grade Reading and Social Studies at Poplar Bluff Middle School. Dillinger also serves as the Speech and Debate Coach for Poplar Bluff High School.

“As a director, you hope that you will not only cast the right people for your show, but people who are willing to work as an ensemble,” said Dillinger. “Thankfully the cast of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ consists of actors who not only care about their role in the play but the entire show. They work as a team, encourage others, and dig deep within the script to bring the production alive. Every actor brings his or her own individuality to the characters. The audience should be excited to see their interpretations of this classic piece.”

Tickets are $10 each and are available online at trcc.edu/tinnin and in person at the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce and the Three Rivers Student Accounts Office. Tickets will be sold at the door, if any remain.

Three Rivers College is committed to contributing to the quality of life in Southeast Missouri with quality, affordable higher education opportunities and community services that support and encourage the economic, civic, and cultural vitality of the region.
