Dexter T.S. Hill Middle School - This listing of T.S. Hill Middle School activities is a service offered by the ShowMe Times, working in partnership with C.A. Counts, Superintendent, Scott Kruse, Middle School Principal and the Dexter Public Schools for your convenience.

We hope you will mark your calendar and we encourage everyone to support our local students and their activities.  The education and growth of young people in our community is the key to everyone's future!

Arkansas State University Announces Dean's List
Jonesboro, Arkansas - Students on the Chancellor’s and Dean’s Lists for fall 2017 at Arkansas State University have been announced. Combined, the group numbers 2,240 students. For the inaugural year at Campus Querétaro, México, 17 students met the academic requirements for the two categories.

The two lists recognize undergraduate students who achieved the highest grade point averages while enrolled in 12 or more credit hours of study.

The Chancellor’s List (designated as CL) includes students who earned a grade point average of 3.80 to 4.0 for spring classes. The Dean’s List (DL) includes students with a grade point average of 3.6 to 3.79.

Local Students at Crowley's Ridge College Make the Dean's List

Paragould, Arkansas - Crowley's Ridge College in Paragould has released the list of academic honors for the Fall 2017 semester.

Included on the list are the follow Stoddard county students:

Paityn Dodson, Bloomfield - Dean's List, Sigma Chi Eta

Peyton Maddox, Bell City - Dean's List, Sigma Chi Eta

In order to qualify for the Dean's List a student must earn at least a 3.5 GPA as a full-time student for the semester.

Dexter School Board Meeting Minutes - January 18, 2018
Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter R-XI School Board met at their regularly scheduled board meeting on January 18, 2018.  Below are the minutes to that meeting.

Regular Board Meeting Notes
January 18, 2018
 6:00 PM

Call to Order/Roll Call/Pledge  The Board President announced the meeting is to begin, ascertains the attendance status of all board members with everyone being present.  He then leads in the saying of the Pledge of Allegiance. 

Consent Agenda:   The consent agenda was approved. 

Public Comments:  There were no public comments made.    

Old Business:  None 

New Business: 
    A.  The board approved the revised budget for the 2017-18
     school year.
    
    Discussion Items:
      A.  Mr. Miller presented information concerning the timeline for the district Bank Bids which are due this year. 
           
     B.  Mr. Miller presented information for the April Board Election. There are three candidates for two positions.  Incumbents, Rick Williams and Jim Reiker, and candidate Ron Glaus.             

     C.  School Board Recognition Week is January 21-27th. All school board members were give a certificate from the Missouri School Board Association.             

     D.  Mr. Miller presented information to the school board in regards to the 18-19 school calendar.  This discussion included information about the possibility of removing 7 days from the calendar and adding 5 minutes to each day.  The board was favorable of presenting this information to the calendar committee for review and discussion.   

     E.  There was no nurses report for the month of January. 

     F.  Mrs. Dewitt and Mrs. Duncan were present and gave their building reports to the board.  Mr. Miller shared the reports for the middle school and the high school.  
     
     G. There was no superintendent report for the month of January.  

      H.  The next board meeting was set for February 20, 2018 at 6:00 p.m.  

In Closed Session:
    1.  The board employed the following substitutes teachers for the remainder of the 2017-18 school year: Cara Hartlein and Sharon Pfeffer (Nurse Only)

    2.  The board approved the employment of the following   
     bus driver for the remainder of the 2017-18 school
    year:    Doug West
    
3.  The board approved the following resignation letters effective at the conclusion of the 2017-2018 school year (unless noted):
      Whitney Horton as Middle School Cheer Sponsor
    
Items presented to the board for informational purposes for future meetings or for discussion include:

The next planning committee meeting will be held on January 29, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Southwest cafeteria.  

CTA announced the retirement tea-May 7, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. in the BEC lobby

Second Grade Students Earn Positive Office Referral Awards at Southwest Elementary

Dexter, Missouri - Southwest Elementary honors second grade students with Positive Office Referral certificates.

This award is presented to students who consistently show the 3R's RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, and READY TO LEARN at Southwest Elementary in Dexter.

Each student received a certificate and a FREE Taco from Taco Bell.
