Bloomfield Public School Board Meeting Minutes - December 11, 2017

Bloomfield, Missouri - The regular Bloomfield School Board meeting for December was held on Monday.  Mrs. Massey's 6th Grade social studies students did an awesome job presenting their projects!

The Board approved OPAA! Food Service for the 2018-19 school year.  Policies and Procedures update was tabled at Toni Hill, Superintendent's request.  She also needed some additional time to get some more information.  The Board discussed forming a Stakeholder's Facility Committee and gave suggestions on individuals to serve on this committee.

Mrs. Skaggs, Mrs. Vaughn, and Mrs. Karnes spoke to the board during the Elementary Principal's Report.  They discussed Project Based Learning with the board.   

In executive session, the Board approved Amanda Lawrence and Rachel Putnam for the substitute list pending all paperwork completion.  The board also approved the resignation of Bobby Blevins, cook, effective immediately and Eva Edwards, teacher, effective at the end of the 17-18 school year.

Bernie Board of Education Meeting Minutes - December 11, 2017
Bernie, Missouri - The Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, December 11, 2017.

Filing dates were announced for election to the Board of Education. 

Those dates are December 12th at 8:00 AM through January 16th at 5:00 PM.  Positions up for re-election this year are Judy Zoll and Gary Eaton.

The Board announced the opening for nominations to the Hall of Fame.  Nominations will be accepted through the end of December and will be reviewed at the January Board Meeting.

Program Evaluations on Technology and Guidance were approved.

The Board reviewed & approved the 2016/17 Financial Audit and approved paying the bills and replenishing petty cash.

During executive session, the administration presented a mid-year staff review and Mr. Hicks presented his goals to the Board.

The Board approved hiring Lori Powell as the Elementary Special Education Para.

Kasting Teaches Safety Class to Dexter School Bus Drivers
Dexter, Missouri - Chuck Kasting with the Stoddard County Ambulance District, is shown teaching a safety class to Dexter school bus drivers.

The class focused on management of a diabetic or epileptic event in a school bus environment.

Dexter bus drivers have monthly training sessions like this one to keep current with Missouri state licensing requirements and to provide a safe and secure ride home for students. 

Dexter Public Schools currently runs 26 daily bus routes, including two special services buses and one early childhood education bus.

2nd Graders Earn Positive Behavioral Support Reward Flag for November
Dexter, Missouri - The Second Grade classroom of Mrs. Nelson earned the Southwest Elementary Positive Behavioral Support Reward Flag for November 2017.

School Wide Positive Behavioral Support (SWPBS) award is presented at the start of each month at Southwest Elementary.  One classroom in each grade is recognized for exhibiting the high character with regard to observing the school's 3R's.

The 3R's stand for being Respectful, Ready to Learn and Responsible.  The class with the highest attendance average, combined with the fewest disciplinary measures and general good character are awarded a 3R red flag to be posted in their classroom for the next month.  The students are also awarded "superhero" capes to wear and parade around the gym before returning to class.
