Searcy, Arkansas - Kendra Stevenson, a 2014 Dexter High School graduate and now attending Harding University, traveled to Chicago on April 6th - 9th as part of requirements for a world religtions class.
Stevenson, who is a public relations major, was among 90 students to participate in the trip designed to enlighten students about people and practices of major living religious traditions.
On Friday, April 7th, students visited the Baha'I House of Prayer, the Hindu Temple Balaji, Islamic Foundation Mosque, and the Sikh Religious Society.
At each location students were met with tour guides, panel discussions, or social interactions like the traditional Sikh "langar" dinner.
On Saturday, April 8th, students attended Shabbat service at KAM Isaiah Israel Congregations and met with Buddhists at Soka Gakkai International.
Harding University is a private Christian university located in Searcy, Arkansas. Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. It is the largest private university in the state.
Stevenson is the daughter of Kay Stevenson of Dexter and Keith Stevenson.
