Tiny Town to Feature Dexter Community

Dexter, Missouri - Parents As Teachers and the Dexter Chamber of Commerce are co-sponsoring "Tiny Town" at the gymnasium at the Southwest Elementary School on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. - noon.

The event is designed for infants through five years of age and is free of charge to the public.

Melanie Stoelting, PAT coordinator attended a similar event and began making plans for a Tiny Town in Dexter.

"This is our first time for this type of endeavor and will be open for the whole community to attend," commented Stoelting.

Tiny Town is an interactive, simulated community designed to introduce children to life in their community.  As children stroll through the streets, they meet and play with store owners, community heroes, bankers, librarians, doctors, and many more professionals in the community.

Parents As Teachers is offered through the Dexter Public Schools.  The program is administered through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE)

PAT provides home visits, screenings, and support that helps build the protective factor found in strong families.
