Bernie Sr. Beta Students Place at State Convention

Bernie, Missouri - Sr. Beta Club students from Bernie High School earned awards at the Missouri State Sr. Beta Convention and will attend the National Convention to be held in Orlando, Florida in June 2017.

The Bernie Sr. Beta Club was awarded the 2016-2017 National Beta School of Distinction and the 2016-2017 National Beta School of Merit.  They also for the 3rd year in a row earned the Top St. Jude Fundraiser Trophy.

Daisy Eaton earned First Place Speech Division 1 as well as 2nd Place Website Design, , Nathan Harvey, Sidney Cobb, Cassidy Freed, and Taylor Anthony placed First in Fresh Look at Beta, Morgan Baker earned First Place Handmade, Weston Zoll earned 2nd Place Woodworking, Jacque Corbin earned 3rd Place Digital Art, Lane Mayberry, Christina Dowdy, Kayli Tanner, and Riley Wells earned 3rd Place Advertising Design as a group.

Lane Mayberry also received a $500 scholarship as a Missouri State University Scholarship Finalist.

Kayli Tanner earned a National Beta Scholarship Finalist spot and the scholarship will be awarded during the National Convention.

Central Elementary School Marks 25th Anniversary

Dexter, Missouri - Central Elementary houses grades three through five in Dexter.  On March 9, 2017 the school celebrated their 25th Anniversary.  Among those who gathered in the library were staff back in 1992.

Shown in the photo from left to right are Carol Dean, Nancy Mayer, Chris Hillis, Herman Morse, Kim Fitts, Dr. Ray Dowdy, Teresa Overall, Kendra Ward, and Marty Thompson.  Of the group pictured only Kendra Ward remains teaching at the school.  The group is pictured with a framed photo taken on March 9, 1992, opening day, by local photographer Joe Craig.

Richland Students Place at State Beta Convention

Essex, Missouri - Richland R-1 Sr. Beta Club attended the annual Missouri State Beta Convention.

Winners from the event include Luke Rhodes First Place Division 2 Social Studies, Megan Cullum, Garet Phillips, Halle Swallows, Rhodes, and Skyler Oakley earned First Place Rube Goldberg Beta Build group project, Emily Blunt earned First Place Digital Art and Kate Wyman placed Second Place Language Arts Division 1 and 3rd Place Poetry Division 1.

All students now qualify to attend the National Sr. Beta Convention in Orlando, Florida in June 2017.

2nd Grade 3Rs Flag Winner at Southwest Elementary

Dexter, Missouri - The Second Grade class of Jordan Boyer earned the Southwest Elementary Positive Behavioral Support Reward Flag for February 2017. 

School Wide Positive Behavioral Support (SWPBS) award is presented at the start of each month at Southwest Elementary.  One classroom in each grade is recognized for exhibiting the high character with regard to observing the school's 3R's.

The 3R's stand for being Respectful, Ready to Learn and Responsible.  The class with the highest attendance average, combined with the fewest disciplinary measures and general good character are awarded a 3R red flag to be posted in their classroom for the next month.  The students are also awarded "superhero" capes to wear and parade around the gym before returning to class.
