First Grade Students Win Ugly Sweater Contest

Dexter, Missouri - Southwest Elementary held an UGLY SWEATER contest prior to Dexter Public Schools dismissing for the holidays. 

Three categories of Most Festive, Most Creative and Ugliest Sweater were chosen for each grade.

First grade student winners are Gavin Drake for Ugliest Sweater, Sophia Wunderlich for Most Festive Sweater, and Lily Graviett for Most Creative Sweater.

Southwest Elementary Students Earn Positive Office Referral Certificates

Dexter, Missouri - Southwest Elementary honors Chase Gill, Quincey McLaughlin, Will Guethle, Caydee Johnson, Addie Meador, and Addison Calvert with the Positive Office Referral certificate.

This award is presented to students who consistently show the 3R's RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, and READY TO LEARN at Southwest Elementary in Dexter.

Chase Gill and Quincey McLaughlin are 2nd grade students in the classroom of Mrs. Justice.

Will Guethle is also a 2nd grade student in the classroom of Mrs. Massey.

Caydee Johnson and Addison Calvert are 1st grade students in the classroom of Mrs. Earnheart.

Addie Meador is a kindergarten student in the classroom of Mrs. Christian.

Central Students Are Winning Writers

Dexter, Missouri - Fourth and fifth grade students at Central Elementary recently participated in the Katherine Hinchey Cochran Writing Achievement Awards sponsored by Southeast Missouri State University.

Central teachers evaluated writing submitted by students and chose two building winners from each division of the competition - Narrative Writing, Essay, and Poetry.

The winning writing samples from Central will go on to compete with the work of other fourth through sixth grade students in the area.
