
Dexter, Missouri - The kindergarten classroom of Jessica McFarlen earned the Southwest Elementary Positive Behavioral Support Reward Flag.
School Wide Positive Behavioral Support (SWPBS) award is presented at the start of each month at Southwest Elementary. One classroom in each grade is recognized for exhibiting the high character with regard to observing the school's 3R's.
The 3R's stand for being Respectful, Ready to Learn and Responsible. The class with the highest attendance average, combined with the fewest disciplinary measures and general good character are awarded a 3R red flag to be posted in their classroom for the next month. The students are also awarded "superhero" capes to wear and parade around the gym before returning to class.

Dexter, Missouri - Each year the annual PTO Book Fair is held in late January to early February and students get an opportunity to shop for books from the Scholastic Book Company.
This year was the biggest yet with a record amount of proceeds going back into Southwest Elementary, Central Elementary and T.S. Hill Middle School Libraries.
PTO parents help at the Book Fairs and assist the students, run the cash registers, and try to make it an educational and enjoyable shopping experience.
Each school library will receive almost $1,900 to purchase books and supplies for their respective library.

Dexter, Missouri - Southwest Elementary honors Wyatt Burden, Chloe Richman, Emilynn LeGrand, and Jonas Shoemaker with the Positive Office Referral certificate.
This award is presented to students who consistently show the 3R's RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, and READY TO LEARN at Southwest Elementary in Dexter.Wyatt Burden is in the first grade classroom of Mrs. Hammons. "Wyatt helped another student who was having trouble getting her coat on. He was very polite and used the 3R's."
Chloe Richman is in the 2nd grade and was referred by Mr. Eldreth. "Chloe is always showing the 3R's and is a fantastic behavior model for her peers!"
Emilynn LeGrand is in the Kindergarten classroom of Mrs. Mason. "Emilynn is kind and helpful to the teacher and other students."
Jonas Shoemaker is in the 2nd grade classroom of Mrs. Keena. "Jonas is always positive!! The first one to tell classmates, "Good job!" Hard worker and always ready to learn!"
