Essex, Missouri - Yesterday, the Richland Rebels celebrated the opening day to Red Ribbon Week by showing off their crazy, colorful, and mismatched socks. Richland's elementary students loved the dress up day and there were many, many participants that joined in on the fun, including staff members! The class with the most dress up participants was the kindergarten class.

Tomorrow, the students will get to participate in Camoflauge Day as the Red Ribbon Week fun continues with daily drawings and activities.

Richland Elementary's Rainy Delivery

Essex, Missouri - It was a rainy day today in Essex, but that didn't stop the delivery of Richland's new playground equipment! The elementary school has dreamed of creating two new playgrounds for their Rebels for years, but their dream finally came true in August after they received a USDA grant. The faculty worked hard to create a layout and have decided they they are going to create two playgrounds, one for the upper elementary students and one for the lower elementary students.

Today, their brand new equipment was delivered right off the truck onto the playground. With the help of Richland R-1's Superintendent Frank Killian (left), board member Terry Blair (right), handyman Calvin Edwards (back of the truck), and other volunteers, the equipment was delivered quickly in the rain.

Both of the new playgrounds will be colored in red and gray and will include a brand new swirly slide, swings, and multiple climbing structures. Along with the students' new playgrounds, the construction workers and Edwards have been building an awning that is perfect for outdoor lunches and other outdoor activities during the summer and spring weather. The Rebel students and faculty were thrilled to see the delivery today and can't wait until the rest of their plans pull together for their new playground.

Richland would like to say thank you to all of the volunteers!
