DHS Homecoming Queen Chosen

Dexter, Missouri - It's a tradition at Dexter Senior High School to select a Homecoming Queen each year and this year's new queen is Miss Lauren Thrower. Lauren was crowned by last year's DHS Homecoming Queen, Kelsey Frederick. Second Alternate was Chandler Crowley and First Alternate was MaKayla Waldner.
Congratulations to all of these beautiful ladies!
Madison McGowan is the 17 year old senior daughter of Todd and Kriste McGowa. Her activities are FCA, FTA, Rowdy Gals, Pep Club, football and basketball cheer, and Dexter Honor Society. Madison plans to attend college and pursue a career as an elementary teacher. Her interests are hanging out with friends, reading, and shopping. Madison was nominated by the varsity cheerleaders.
Madison's escort is Wyatt Kiger. Wyatt is the seventeen-year-old senior son of Jerry and Karen Kiger. Wyatt's activities are football, baseball, FCA, and FTA.
Chandler Crowley is the 17 year old senior daughter of Terry and Tammy Crowley. Her activities are football cheer, dance team, track, FCA, plans to attend college and obtain a degree in mammography. Her interests are shopping, snowboarding, swimming, and hanging out with friends. Chandler was nominated by the varsity cheerleaders.
Chandler's escort is Ethan Stevens. Ethan is the 16 year old sophomore son of Nate and Maria Stevens. Ethan's activities are football, wrestling, golf, FCA, and Pep Club.
Kendra Stevenson is the 18 year old senior daughter of Keith Stevenson and Kay Polsgrove Stevenson. Her activities are Varsity Tennis, Varsity Softball, Rowdy Gals, President of FCA, Secretary of Pep Club, President of Rotary-Interact Club, Top 10%, and Dexter Honor Society. Kendra plans to attend the University of Missouri - Columbia to study Linguistics. Her interests include cooking, singing, and dancing. Kendra was nominated by the girls' tennis team.
Kendra's escort is Jonathan Foels. He is the 17 year old senior son of Rick and Chris Murry and Mark Foels. Jonathan's activities are football, track, FCA, and President of the Pep Club.
Shyann Jines is the 16 year old junior daughter of Cory and Stacy Blocker and Brian and Amanda Jines. Her activities include varsity volleyball, basketball cheer, FCA, FTA, and yearbook staff. Shyann plans to go to college and pursue a job in nursing. her interests are hanging out with friends, shopping, and playing club volleyball. She was nominated by the volleyball team.
Shyann's escort is Cody Nelson. Cody is the 17 year old senior son of Denny and Traci Christian and Jamie and Jessica Neldon. Cody's activities include football, basketball, baseball, FCA, and FTA.
Mary Kate Miller is the 15 year old sophomore daughter o Mike and Candy Miller. her activities include varsity tennis, Student Council, FCA, FCCLA, TARS, and Rotary Interact. She plans to become a registered Nuse and eventually a Nurse Practitioner. Her interests are attending DHS activities/sorting events and participating in activities with her church youth group. Mary Kate was nominated by the girls' tennis team.
Mary Kate's escort is Austin Chesser. He is the 16 year old sophomore son of Scott and Cynthia Chessor. Austin's activities are football, basketball, golf, honors choir, and FCA.
Kelsi Wood is the 16 year old junior daughter of Scott and Shawna Wood. Her activities are cross country, track, dance team, FCA, and FTA. She plans to attend college in Alabama and major in psychology. Her interests are spending time with family and friends. Kelsi was nominated by the cross country team.
Kelsi's escort is Jordan Wood. Jordan is the 15 year old sophomore son of Scott and Shawna Wood and is Kelsi's brother. Jordan's activities are cross country, basketball, baseball, FCA, and Pep Club.
Alyssa Spear is the 17 year old senior daughter of Andy and Becky Wilkerson and Steve and Candi Spear. Her activities include volleyball, cheer, FCA, and Pep Club. Alyssa plans to attend college and pursue a career in the medical field. Her interests are hanging out with friends, playing club volleyball, and spending time with her little brother. She was nominated by the volleyball team.
Alyssa's escort is Peyton Pollock. Peyton is the 17 year old junior son of Dan and Monta Pollock. Peyton's activities are football, basketball, baseball, Pep Club and FCA.
Lauren Thrower is the 15 year old sophomore daughter of Lori Hawkins and Bob Thrower. Her activities are JV volleyball, FCA, FLC, Student Council, and Pep Club. Lauren plans to attend the University of Missouri - Columbia and graduate with a major in occupational therapy. Her interests are singing, playing volleyball, competing in pageants, and supporting the Bearcats any way she can. She was nominated by the football team.
Lauren's escort is Tyler Stevenson. Tyler is the 15 year old sophomore son of Keith Stevenson and Kay Polsgrove Stevenson. Tyler's activities are FCA, Pep Club, varsity football, tennis, and a member of the Bernie Church of Christ.
Katie Justice is the 17 year old senior daughter of Keven and Cindy Justice. Her activities are cross country, track, FCA, FTA, an Dexter Honor Society. She plans to attend college and become a dentist. Her interests are spending time with family and friends and running. Katie was nominated by the cross country team.
Katie's escort is Damon Allstun. Damon is the 16 year old junior son of Kenny and Crystal Allstun. Damon's activities are cross country, track, and DTA.
MaKayla Waldner is the 16 year old sophomore daughter of Bob and Kim Waldner. Her activities include tennis, football, basketball, track, Pep Club, FCA, and STUCCO. She plans to attend college and play soccer while studying to become a medical examiner. Her interests are playing sports and hanging out with friends. MaKayla was nominated by the football team.
MaKayla's escort is Trevor Waldner. He is the 18 year old senior son of Bob and Kim Waldner and is MaKayla's brother. Trevor's activities are football, wrestling, Pep Club, and FCA.

Future Farmers of America Strut Your Stuff Car Show

Dexter, Missouri - The Future Farmers of America have teamed up with Allen Christian Buick GMC to host the Bearcat Car, Truck, and Tractor Show this Saturday, October 5th as part of the Community Homecoming Event.Dee Loflin SMT Manager/Editor
Motorcycles and Monster Trucks are also welcome to participate and ar eligible for trophies and prizes. There will be several categories of trophies including "Faster Than a Speeding Ticket" and the "Most Spirited"!
Cost is only $10 and all proceeds go to the Dexter FFA. It's a worthy cause and registration is at 8:00 a.m. Car show begins at 9:00 a.m. and awards will be around 1:00 p.m.
Come out and walk around and view these beautiful cars and trucks and awesome motorcycles. Love antique tractors. There should be several to view. Enjoy some fine BBQ wings cooked by the National Wildlife Turkey Federation and other concession by the Dudley Church of God. Check out the BBQ Cook-Off contestants as they smoke their way to winning the grand prize and bragging rights! Don't forget the ColorBurst Run at 8:00 a.m. Should be an exciting Saturday!

DHS Homecoming Candidates Announced

Bearcats – students, alumni and fans – love tradition! One of the most anticipated moments of DHS Homecoming is the crowning of the Homecoming queen just prior to the football game.
Ten young women have been nominated by five fall sports teams to be the 2013 Fall Homecoming Queen. The candidates will be presented and the queen crowned Friday evening at 6:30 p.m., during pre-game festivities before the much anticipated Dexter vs New Madrid County Central football game.
The Cross Country Team nominated Katie Justice and Kelsi Wood.The Tennis Team nominated Mary Kate Miller and Kendra Stevenson.
The Football Team nominated MaKayla Waldner and Lauren Thrower.
The Cheerleaders nominated Chandler Crowley and Madison McGowan.
The Volleyball Team nominated Shyann Jines and Alyssa Spear.

DHS Homecoming Week - Get Crazy for the Bearcats!

Dexter, Missouri - It's going to be an exciting week at Dexter Senior High School. Bearcat Nation is celebrating HOMECOMING in a big way! This year's theme is GET CRAZY FOR THE BEARCATS! Each day students will get crazy with their socks, hair, clothes and school spirit!
Monday - Crazy Sock Day
Tuesday - Crazy Hair Day
Wednesday - Crazy Color Day-Bright, crazy or mix-matched colors
Thursday - Crazy about you day-Wear something that makes you unique. (What are your interests? basketball, art, music, etc.)
Friday - Crazy School Spirit Day! No face paint or hair paint during school hours, but go crazy at the homecoming game.
Students are also invited to attend the Community Homecoming Tailgate Party sponsored by the Regional Healthcare Foundation which will be held at the Bearcat Event Center prior to the game on Friday against New Madrid County Central. After the game there will be a 5th Quarter celebration with Flashback entertaining and some street dancing going on. Concessions will be available. So come on out and enjoy and show your school spirit. Go Bearcats!!
