Kennett, Missouri - Thinking about becoming a teacher? The Three Rivers campus located in Kennett is holding an event to show the current or upcoming students all about their new teaching program. The Teacher Education Information Night will be held at 6:00pm on Tuesday, April 16th. If students are looking for insight, career opportunities, or colleges offering certain classes in specific fields, this informational event would be great to attend.
This special Information Night allows the Three Rivers College to explain the courses that will be offered in the fall for the upcoming school year. The night will not only cover the basics, questions, and facts about the teaching field and the many careers it has to offer, but financial aid and scholarships will also be explained. They will also have administrators to talk about the easy way to transfer to a four-year university or college if the students would like to continue their learning elsewhere.
Faculty from Three Rivers will also be in attendance to present information and answer any questions the visitors might have. One of the presenters will be the college’s teacher education instructor, Chrystal Foster.
One of the local graduates from Three Rivers in Poplar Bluff, Amanda Pryor, graduated from the teaching education program in prior years. She is an outstanding teacher the Missouri Association for Colleges of Teaching Education (MACTE) seems to agree. She recently received an award from the MACTE for being an excellent teacher during her first few years of being in the classroom at Lake Road Elementary in Poplar Bluff where she is currently teaching second grade. The education she received at the main campus in Poplar Bluff is now going to be available for students in Kennett.
The teaching careers available in the United States are expected to grow throughout the next decade. The Missouri Department of Economic Development claims that there is a state requirement that states that 23,000 new teachers will be hired in the state of Missouri. The estimated teaching salary for a Missouri teacher is around $43,000 yearly. To become a teacher, it takes a four year degree but Three Rivers is making it affordable for everyone so they can finish their schooling quickly and efficiently so they can jumpstart their new career.
