Dexter, Missouri – Spring is still trying to peep through the clouds, but the flowers are beginning to show signs of life.  Easter came a little early this year and spring sports are already under way and those that love horseback riding will soon be galloping in the fields.

One young lady who enjoys riding is Tesa Jeanette Martin and she is the Calendar Girl for April 2013.  Along with horseback riding, Tesa loves art and painting.

She is a junior at Dexter Senior High School and the daughter of Robert and Linda Martin.

Tesa is a member of Honors Choir, Dexter Honor Society and the Art Club.  She is also a Varsity Football Cheerleader and is an Assistant Dance Teacher at Melissa's Studio of Performing Arts.

Tesa Martin is an attendant to Miss Dexter 2012, which is sponsored annually by the Dexter High School Music Department.  Each year the attendants are chosen as Calendar Girls throughout the year.

Congratulations to Tesa Jeanette Martin!

FBLA Students Visit SEMO

Dexter, Missouri-  The Future Business Leaders of America Club also known as FBLA is one of the many clubs offered to students at Dexter Senior High School.  The students of Dexter Public Schools are very lucky to have such a broach range of clubs and organizations to choose from based on their careers and personal preferences.

FBLA is a very well-known organization at Dexter High School and many students enjoy getting involved with this club every year. The FBLA group is led by Mrs. Ramona Lemons who teaches many business classes at the high school.

Recently, the Dexter High School FBLA group took a field trip to Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.  Throughout the day these students were able to meet with an admissions counselor and tour the campus.

"The tour was very informative," said Mrs. Lemons.  The visit included a tour and discussions on various housing alternatives, campus classrooms, and other aspects of college life.

The Dexter FBLA Club is involved in many learning activities for the students periodically through each year, this just being one exciting trip and learning experience.  What memories these students will have and such a learning experience.  Many of these students plan to attend Southeast Missouri State University.  They may live on campus or attend classes at one of the campus satellite facilities.  Either way education is important and these students realize the importance of furthering their education.
