Indians Fall to Bell City Cubs



The Puxico Varsity Indians Baseball Team (0-1) fell to the Bell City Cubs (2-0) 5-4 on Tuesday at their home opener.  The Cubs builts a 4-run lead in the sixth inning and then held off the Indians for the victory.  


Bell City opened the scoring in the top of the third thanks to Dawson Loomes who doubled and scored one run.  Blaine Scheible singled, scoring two runs.


Baylor Eftink earned the win for the Cubs.  The reliever gave up one hit and zero runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out none and walking none.  Jake Asher stepped on the hill firt for Bell City.  The starting pitcher gave up three hits and four runs (two earned) over six and one-third innings, striking out three and walking two.


PJ Rickman took the loss for Puxico. The hurler went two and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out two and walking no one.  Mason Parsley stepped on the mound first.  The left-handed pitcher gave up four hits and three runs over four and one-third innings, striking out four and walking three.


 Waylon Powell led Puxico with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup.  The infielder went 1-for-3 on the day.  Powell, Parsley, Drake Armstrong, and Jagur Backus each collected one hit.


Blaine Scheible drove the middle of the linup, leading Bell City with two runs batted in.  The infielder went 2-for-4 on the day.  The Cubs turned one double play in the game.


Bell City had two earrors to Puxico’s one error.


Puxico will paly at home on Thursday hosting 

Leopold at 4:30 p.m.


Bell City will travel to Cooter on Wednesday.  Game time at 4:30 p.m.

Dexter High School Football Bearcats Ranked 9th After Week #1

Six area teams are in the top 10 in their respective classes in the Missouri Media football rankings released Monday night.

Dexter was voted to be 9th in Class 3.  They received 22 points in the voting.

Mules Shutout Hornets 15-Zip

The Bernie Mules shut out the Holcomb Hornets in the home opener on Friday evening.  The Mules scored nine runs in the third inning and went on to defeat the Hornets 15-0.

Brayden Vaughn drew a walk, scoring one run, Taylor Stanfield hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Cayden Hunt was s struck by a pitch , driving in a run, Alex Lester grounded out, scoring one run, Jonah Copeland singled, scoring one run, Cane Hobgood singled, scoring one run, Vaughn then doubled, scoring two runs, and finally Cody Massey singled, scoring one run. What an inning scoring nine runs.

In the first inning Massey doubled, Stanfield singled, and Lester walked, each scoring one run.

Hobgood earned the win on the mound.  The right-handed pitcher allowed only one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out four and walking four.   Stephen Bradshaw took the loss for the Hornets.  the hurler ent one and one-third innings, surrendering four runs on two hits, striking out non and walking one.

Bladyn Joiner stepped on the hill first for Holcomb. The starter gave up two hits and three runs (two earned) over two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking three.

Stanfield, Vaughn, and Massey each collected two hits for the Mules.  Vaughn earned a home run on a pop fly to left field.  Stanfield and Vaughn each drove in three runs.  Hobgood led with two walks.  Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amazing eight walks for the game.

Vaughn, Hobgood, and Josiah Copeland stole nine bases altogether.  No errors were committed by the Mules.  The Mules cored three runs in the first, three in the second and nine in the third inning to finish the game.  

The Bernie Mules travel to Risco on Tuesday, September 3rd.  First pitch is at 4:30 p.m.

Bearcat Seniors Provide Talent and Leadership on the Football Field

The Dexter Bearcats take on the Malden Green Wave on Friday night.  There are 19 seniors on the team this year with an incredible amount of talent!  They are poised for greatness!

"Our team philosophy here is players first and team first!" stated head football coach Chad Jamerson. "We play with our five core values 1. Handwork, 2. Embracing Competition, 3. Accountability,            4.  Relentless Effort, and 5 Toughness.  Put those to gather and is an acronym for H.E.A.R.T. and that's what will will play with this year, a lot of HEART!"

Leading the pack are Nolan Alford, Zach Billingsley, Rylee Cochran, Ethan Glaus, Caleb Gott, Jett Grams, Travis Robinson, Peyton Hartline, Jackson Howard, Parker King, Travis Pratt, Caden Lee, Tyler Spence, Lee-Michael McDonald, Joseph Paisley, Don McNeal, Logan Pullum Christiaan Wirz, and Sawyer Rascher.

They have worked extremely hard over the summer to get to this moment, their senior year of football!  After coming off an impressive performance at the Jamboree last Friday night against incredibly competitive teams like Portageville, East Prairie, and Kelly they will finally get to show off that talent in their opening debut at Malden. 

What can we expect from the offensive line?  It is packed with extremely talented young athletes such at Jackson Howard, Logan Pullum, Sawyer Rascher, Jett Grams, Nolan Alford, Caden Lee, and Lee-Michael McDonald.  They will take on a new head coach at Malden, Preston Pulley and he is ready for them.

"The kids have put in a great week of work," commented Coach Chad Jamerson. "We are ready to finally play a game."

"I expect Malden will be well prepared and have a great plan for us so we are anticipating a battle and would hope to come out with a victory."

Coach Jamerson and his coaching staff are ready as well.  They have analyzed their opponent's play style, their strengths, their weaknesses, their tactical plays and look at each paltry's characteristics of how they play the game.  They are ready!  Are you ready to cheer on the Bearcats!  Be loud and proud at the game so the boys can hear you!  Make some noise!!!

Dexter had an impressive 6-3 season last year.  Their hopes is to have that perfect 9-0 season and get into the play-offs and on to a state Championship!  Can it be done?  Yes the talent is there!  They have prepared for this moment!  The coaches have prepared all summer and these young men have been working in the weigh room and on the field to accomplish their goals. 

As we all say #fireupbearcats!!!!!  Let's go!!
