DHS Athletes Earn 2024 All-Conference Baseball Team Honors
Dexter High School baseball athletes received special recognition. Two were chosen for the 2024 All-Conference Baseball Team. Beau Carrier who is a pitcher for the Bearcats and Justus Lovelady who is an outfielder were chosen to the All-Conference Baseball Team.
Four athletes were chosen All-Conference Honorable Mention. Jackson Howard (Infielder)

Trey Pedigo (Pitcher)

Jaxon Miller (Catcher)

Bearcat Baseball Looks to Continue Strong Against Kennett

The Dexter Bearcats baseball team have been playing very well lately, going 6-4 in their last 10 games.  They will put that strong play to the test on Monday when they go up against the #1 ranked Kennett Indians in the semifinal action of the Class 3, District Baseball Tournament.  Dexter has a 13-10 overall record.

"I believe the boys are excited about the opportunity in front of us," commented Dexter head baseball coach Steven Edwards. "Allyear we have been tested by our youth and th young men have always surpassed expectations."

Justus Lovelady's .990 OPS leads the Bearcats.  The right-handed hitter has a .451 OBP and a .540 slugging percentage this season.  Beau Carrier leads Dexter with 55 and 1/3 innings pitched.  The righty has a 2.28 ERA.  Jaxon Miller leads the Bearcats with 133 total fielding chances this season.  Miller's primary position is catcher.

Gibson Booker hits and pitches for Dexter.  Booker primarily plays right field on the field.  Booker primarily plays right field.  Booker has driven in a run in the past two games.  the outfielder has hit 2-6 and driven in two runs during the streak.  Booker has put together 29 quality at bats this season.  He has induced 12 ground balls on 22 balls in play this season.

The Kennett Indians have played just as well lately, going 6-4 in their last 10 games.  they have a 7-6 record overall.  

When asked are the boys ready?  "ARE WE READY? WE ARE ALL IN AND READY!

Come out to the game this afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Dexter baseball field and watch some great baseball!

2024 Class 2, District 1 Boys Baseball Tournament Seeds and Bracket Announced

The 2024 Class 2, District 1 Baseball Tournament bracket and seeds announced.  All games will be played at Senath-Hornersville High School beginning Thursday, May 9, 2024.

Portageville Bulldogs earned the #1 seed followed by #2 Senate-Hornersville, #3 Bernie, #4 Campbell, #5 Holcomb, and #6 South Pemiscot.

Portageville has a record of 25-6, Senath-Hornersville (11-6), Bernie (15-9), Campbell (10-8), Holcomb (11-10), and South Pemiscot's record is (3-15) at time of publication.

Round 1 - Thursday, May 9th

Portageville and Senath will have a bye in the fist round

2:00 p.m. #3 Bernie vs #6 South Pemiscot

4:00 p.m. #4 Campbell vs #5 Holcomb

Semifinals - Friday, May 10th

11:00 a.m. #1 Portageville vs winner of Campbell/Holcomb game

1:00 p.m. #2 Senath-Hornersville vs winner of Bernie/South Pemiscot game

Championship will be on Monday, May 13th at 4:00 p.m. in Senath.

2024 SEMO Conference All Tournament Baseball Team Named, Kyle Smith MVP Award Given

The 2024 SEMO Conference All Tournament Baseball Team was named on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.  This was the first time in Dexter high school history for the baseball team to compete in the Championship game.

Dexter lost to a very tough opponent the Jackson Indians by a score of 5-0.  Dexter was ranked #6 while Jackson earned a #1 ranking.  Dexter defeated Notre Dame and Poplar Bluff to make it to the championship round.

John Paul Sauer of Jackson was named the 3rd Annual Kyle Smith MVP.  Kyle Smith was a sports writer for SEMOBALL and the Dexter Statesman when he unexpectedly passed away covering the Bernie Mules basketball team at the final four in Springfield, MO on March 12, 2022.

Dexter Bearcats Earn a Win Hosting Notre Dame, Sikeston, and Twin Rivers

The Dexter Golf Team hosted a quad match on Tuesday, April 24, 2024 at Hidden Trails Country Club.

"We had the best weather of the season tonight at Hidden Trails Country Club," stated Eric Sitze, head golf coach. "Lots of sun, zero wind, and great course conditions made for a great evening of high school golf."

The Dexter Bearcats came out on tope shooting a 157 over Notre Dame, Sikeston and Twin Rivers. Notre Dame shot 172, Sikeston shot a 179 and Twin Rivers shot a 211.
Ben Christian took medalist honors with a 36.
Banks Nesselrodt was close on his tail with a 37.

Tucker Temples finished with a 41 while Alyssa Warren rounded out the 157 with a 43.
