2022 SCAA Cross Country Meet Moved to Dexter

On Saturday, October 8th, 2022 Dexter R-XI School District will host the annual Stoddard County Schools Cross Country Meet for junior high and high school runners

The Stoddard County Athletic Association (SCAA) Cross Country meet has been moved from Bloomfield to Dexter due to a scheduling conflict with an event to be held at the Stars & Stripes Museum.  The meet will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the middle school boys running first.

The times are as follows:

8:30 A.M. Coaches’ Meeting

9:00 A.M. MS Boys

9:05 A.M. MS Girls

9:45 A.M. Varsity/JV Boys

9:50 A.M. Varsity/JV Girls

There will be 10 rank medals given out per middle school and high school race.  The individual rank medals will be placed in packets and given to coaches at the conclusion of the meet.  The first place team from each race will receive a plaque.

DHS Boys Cross Country Team Earns 2nd Place Finish at Gans Creek Classic

Columbia, MO - The Dexter Bearcats Cross Country Team took second place in the white division at the Gans Creek Classic on Saturday with a team average time of 17:36.

Three boys and one girl medaled at the event.  Chris Stone led the way finished 4th with a time of 17:05.  Cameron bell finished ninth with a time of 17:24 and Ben Dowdy finished 12th with a time of 17:28.

On the girls side, Miss Abbie Lloyd finished 15th with a time of 21:40.

On Wednesday prior to this meet Dexter competed at the Van Buren Scenic River run in Carter County.  Alliye Lee placed 19th with a time of 27:34.  Jasmine Smith finished with time of 29:46 earning her a 21st place finish and Lilly Crockett finished 24th with a time of 30:08.

On the boys side Stryker Munzy finished 30th with a time of 23:54 and Gavin McMullin finished 31st with a time of 24:00.

T.S. Hill Middle School Cross Country Team 2022

T.S. Hill Middle School Cross Country team is coached by Brent Shipman.  They had their first home meet on Tuesday.

You can still have an opportunity to see them run!

Puxico Lady Indians Earn First Place Finish at Dig for Life

The Puxico Lady Indians varsity volleyball team earned a 1st Place title in the Black Division of the St. Francis Healthcare SEMO Dig for Life Volleyball Challenge Tournament over the weekend.  They defeated SCAA rival the Bernie Lady Mules to win.  There were 62 teams competing over the weekend in Cape Girardeau.

They went 2-0 against Viburnum, and finished the evening with a 1-1 split against Scott City.

"The girls played VERY tough and got a big win in the second set," commented head varsity volleyball coach Hannah Douglas. "It was a great way to end our night!! We’re currently 3-1 for pool play"

"We have been working on this for six years to get here," continued Douglas. "We couldn’t be more proud of what we did here. FIRST place looks good on you, girls!"

Other final results are:

Red Division: Gold final - Saxony defeated Farmington

Red Division: Silver final- St. Gen defeated Park Hills

Black Division: Gold final -Bell City defeated Scott City

Black Division: Silver final - Puxico defeated Bernie

Puxico Falls Short to Woodland 5-0

The Puxico Indians baseball team came up short on Friday, September 9th when the Woodland Cardinals shut them out 5-0.

A single by Cole Barnfield in the seventh inning was a positive for the Indians. Barnfield went 1-for-3 at the plate to lead Puxico.

Waylon Powell took the loss.  The right-handed pitcher  lasted seven innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out eight and walking zero.

Grainger Yurevich was credited with the victory for Woodland.  The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out eight and walking none.

Lane VanGennip led Woodland with two hits in four at bats.  The Woodland Cardinals didn't commit a single error.  Hunter McAlister had the most chances in the field with eight.

Woodland scored two in the third, two in the fifth and one in the seventh inning.
