The Bloomfield Basketball Youth Camp will be for boys and girls going into 1st - 8th grades. You do not have to be in the Bloomfield School District to attend.
Coach Keith along with Assistant Coaches and players will be present to instruct and teach athletes.
The cost of the camp is $40 if you register now. It will be $50 the day of the camp. If the cost of the camp is an issue please contact Coach Keith by email at kkeith@bps14.org.
"We just want the athletes to get the opportunity to participate in a fun and exciting camp.

Dates of the camp are July 19th - July 21st (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday)
Grades 1st - 4th are from 8:00 a.m. - 9:45 a.m.
Grades 5th - 8th are from 10:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

Campers will work on the basic fundamentals of basketball including passing, dribbling, shooting, and teamwork. They will be involved in competitive games along with daily contests. Each camper will receive a Wildcat t-shirt.

Beginning July 1, deer hunters can apply online through the Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) website for a shot at more than 100 managed deer hunts throughout the state this fall and winter.
MDC offers managed deer hunts for archery, muzzleloading, crossbow, and modern firearms from mid-September through mid-January at conservation areas, state and other parks, national wildlife refuges, and other public areas. Some managed deer hunts are held specifically for youth or for people with disabilities.
The managed deer hunt application period is July 1 - 31. Hunters are selected by a weighted random drawing. Draw results will be available Aug. 15 through Jan. 15. Applicants who are drawn will receive area maps and other hunt information by email, or mail if an email address is not located on the customer’s account.
The Sikeston Bulldogs hosted their second annual Sikeston 7-on-7 and Big Man Tournament on Tuesday, June 21st at the Sikeston Public Schools Stadium.
The tournament was attended by Kennett, Charleston, Poplar Bluff, Perryville, Portageville, Dexter, Chaffee, Scott City, Hayti and East Prairie.
Scott City defeated Kennett in the championship game of the tournament. The Rams knocked off Dexter in the semifinals while the Indians beat Poplar Bluff.
"Overall, the kids performed better than expected at Sikeston," commented new head coach Chad Jameson. "In pool play, we were 3-1. We ended up losing in the semi-finals."
"Our “big men” met the challenges presented that day with a great attitude and effort. Several kids stood out in the challenge and during 7v7. We’ve still got a long way to go before the fall, but I believe we are heading in the right direction."
There's less than 2 months to go until the stadium lights at Charles Bland Stadium are illuminated for the Bearcat fans! Football during the summer never stops, the grind, the heart of the players to play in the heat and give up hanging out with their fans takes endurance and commitment!
"We are still working on setting up some competitions for the month of July. On the 20th, we plan to travel and compete in a 7v7 & Big Man Challenge at Cape. At the end of July, we intend to travel to Farmington for a contact camp. That camp will most likely wrap up our July before heading into the mandatory MSHSAA Dead Period at the beginning of August."
This upcoming week will mark our final team camp for the month of June. We will continue our weight room work throughout the month of July while having our team camp at Charles Bland Stadium throughout the final 2 weeks of July. Our home high school camps will be Mon-Thur during the weeks of July 18 & July 25. We intend to add another 7v7 and some “team building” activities to continue working towards our Bearcat Football goals."
Dexter will open at Scott City on Friday, August 24th before hosting the Sikeston Bulldogs on the following weekend of September 2nd.

The Mules Booster Club has named Madalyn Berry and John-Paul Godwin of Poplar Bluff High School the May Athletes of the Month, presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors.
Madalyn, a soccer player of the Class of 2022, ended her senior season with 19 goals and four assists. Additionally, she had four multiple-goal games plus two hat tricks with three goals in a single matchup.
“She is a very hard-working player on the field,” said Rusty Crafton, Madalyn’s coach. “She has never complained on the field. She just does her job each day, [whether that is during] practices or games.”
John-Paul, a track and field runner of the Class of 2022, is the fourth fastest male 110-meter hurdler with the 21st fastest hurdle time in PBHS history. This year he placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles with 14.87 seconds at All-State, and 13th in the 300-meter hurdles. During regular season, he had 12 first place finishes. Last year, he placed eighth in the 110-meter with 15 seconds at All-State.
John-Paul is a “great leader” with a “hard work ethic and great drive to make himself better,” said Jeff Mannon, his coach. He “acknowledges everyone with a smile and positive attitude.”

At its regularly scheduled meeting, the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Board of Directors discussed a number of proposals submitted by entities hoping to host championships in the sports of Basketball, Cross Country, Volleyball, Wrestling and activity of Music.
The Board approved the proposal submitted by Columbia and the University of Missouri for hosting the Music Festival on the MU campus until the 2028-29 school year.
The Board also approved the use of Mizzou Arena for the Boys Wrestling Championships until the 2028-29 school year.
The Cross Country Championship will also stay in Columbia with the Gans Creek Recreational Facility serving as the venue through the 2028-29 school year.
The board authorized the MSHSAA staff to continue discussions with the Hy-Vee Arena in Kansas City for acceptable terms in hosting the Girls Wrestling Championships.
The board accepted the hosting proposal from Cape Girardeau for hosting the Volleyball Championships for the years 2023-24 and 2024-25 at the Show Me Center on the Southeast Missouri State University campus.
The board tabled consideration of the hosting proposals for the Volleyball Championships for 2025-26, 2026-27 and 2027-28 to allow staff members to conduct of facility visit with the St. Joseph Civic Arena.
After considering two proposals from Springfield and Columbia to host the Show-Me Showdown, the board chose the proposal from Columbia. Beginning with the 2023-24 school year, the Show-Me Showdown will be held on the MU campus in Mizzou Arena and Hearnes Center.
