Phillips Receives 2022 Bill Harris Scholar Athlete of the Year Award

Bloomfield, MO - The Bill Haris Scholar Athlete of the Year award goes to a current senior, who has had two years of varsity experience, maintained a 3.0 GPA or higher, as well as excelled on the field or court and in the classroom.

This award is in memory of Bill Harris, a longtime Wildcat supporter, as his family wanted to have an award in his honor.  This the 14th year for the award.

This year's winner is Ms. Karsynn Phillips.

She has a 3.96 GPA, scored a 22 on her ACT, and is currently ranked 4th in her graduating class.

On the volleyball court she has earned 2nd Team All District her freshman year, followed by 1st Team All district for three years in a row.

She has been named SCAA All Conference volleyball player for three years and is a three time member of the SCAA All Conference Cheer Squad.

On the softball field she has received Honorable Mention and All Conference recognition as well as 1st Team All District.  She also has a great chance to add to those accomplishments in softball this spring.

Congratulations to Karsynn Phillips on receiving the 2022 Bill Harris Scholar Athlete Ward.

2022 SEMO Conference All Tournament Named, Kyle Smith MVP Award

2022 SEMO Conference All-Tournament Baseball Team was announced on Wednesday and in honor of the late Kyle Smith, Sports Editor for the Dexter Statesman, the first ever Kyle Smith Tournament MVP Award.  Caden Bogenpohl of Jackson received the award.  Smith passed away on March 12, 2022 while cover the Bernie Mules basketball team at the Final Four Tournament in Springfield, Missouri.

FREE Sports Physicals for Bloomfield Athletes

Bloomfield, MO - Free physicals will be available on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 for 5th grade - 11th grade athletes who plan to participate in sports for the 2022 - 2023 school year.

Physical forms and sign-up sheets are available in the building offices.  Forms must be signed by parents or guardians before May 11th.

Physicals are valid for two years.

Dylan Sitze Medals at Dexter's Home Match on Senior Night

Dexter, MO - Sikeston, Notre Dame, and Saxony Lutheran competed at Dexter's only home match this year on Wednesday, April 27th at Hidden Trails Country Club.  Dexter won with a total of 161.  It was also senior night for the Bearcats.

Dylan Sitze, DHS senior, earned a top finish and medaled with a score of 38.

"Today was our best weather day yet," stated head golf coach Eric Sitze.  "Glad the seniors had a good day to play!"

"We didn't play our best, but not bad, continued Sitze.  "The kids did a good job grinding it out after some bad holes."

Dexter

Cy Worley - 39, Dylan Sitze - 38, Ben Christian - 42, Matt Hardin - 42, Tucker Temples - 43 total score of 161.

Sikeston

Carson Beaird - 46, Payton Spurlock - 46, Andrew Faire - 46, Jay Lape - 42, Henery Arndt - 47  total score of 180.

Notre Dame

Beau Traxel - 42, Quin Hunter - 46, Couper Stewart - 47, Luke Gilmore - 40 total score of 175.

Saxony Lutheran

Mike Hasz - 40, Ty Seabaugh - 52, Logan Pruitt - 56, Austin Korn - 61, Tom Haxz - 56 total score of 204.

"We are going to miss our seniors next year.  they have had a good season and we are looking forward to competing the rest of the year."

2022 DHS Sports Senior Night Featuring Cy Worley

Dexter, MO - The Dexter High School Golf Team hosted their only home match in 2022 and recognized their seniors. 

Cy Worley is the son of Clete and Jill Worley.

He has participated in golf three of his four years in high school.  The only year he missed was due to Covid-19 when school was dismissed in March 2020, but he never stopped practicing.

Cy is also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Pep Club.

His future plans are to play golf at Mineral Area College.

His favorite memory was when he was 6 years old, he played his first BIG tournament at Crab Orchard Country Club and won with his dad as his caddy.
