Dexter Tennis Team Remembers Kyle Smith

Dexter, MO - The Dexter Tennis Team honored Kyle Smith, Dexter Statesman's long time sports editor, who recently passed away on assignment in Springfield, Missouri.  The boys wore black armbands in his memory.

Dexter Tennis Hosts 4th Annual Courts for Cancer Against Jackson

Dexter, MO - The Dexter Tennis team hosted Jackson in its 4th Annual Courts for Cancer event.  Jackson defeated Dexter 7-2

"Many of the matches were very close," stated Eric Boles, boys tennis coach. "Jackson closed better than Dexter did, but we had two players walk away with singles wins."

Varsity singles results

1. Nolan Dry (J) def. Peyton Boles (D), 9-7 (7-4)

2. Drake Channell (D) def. Gage Shearon (J), 8-6

3. Will Petzoldt (J) def. Lawson Booker (D), 8-2

4. Logan Jones (D) def. Cameron Crawford (J), 8-2

5. Rylan Martin (J) def. Cooper Worley (D), 8-5

6. Drew Miller (J) def. Ryder Williams (D), 8-1

Varsity Doubles results

1. Dry/Shearon (J) def. Boles/Channell (D), 8-4

2. Petzold/Martin (J) def. Blocker/Worley (D), 8-4

3. Crawford/Miller (J) def. Jones/Chamberlain (D), 8-2

"We really saw our freshmen take another positive step forward in both doubles and singles," continued Boles. "This young team is getting better and better with each week of competition."

Our efforts allowed us to donate to four different people/groups.

$800.00 to Gavin Miller, Asst. Supt of Schools for Dexter who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

$400.00 to Kids of Friends with Cancer

$600.00 to SmileTrain (cleft palate charity)

The team also wore black armbands for Dexter Statesman's long time sports editor, Kyle Smith, who passed away on March 12, 2022.

"This has been our most successful Courts for Cancer fundraiser so far," commented Boles. "Thank you all so much for supporting our teams and this wonderful cause."

On Thursday, April 21st Jackson will host Dexter at 4 p.m.

2022 SCAA Softball Tournament Seeds and Bracket Announced

Puxico, MO - The 2022 Stoddard County Athletic Association Varsity Softball Tournament will be held at the Chris Sifford Memorial Sports Complex in Puxico on Monday, April 18th and Tuesday, April 19th.

Advance Lady Hornets earned the #1 seed followed by #2 Woodland, #3 Bernie, #4 Dexter, #5 Bloomfield, and #6 Puxico.

Advance and Woodland have earned a bye in round one.

Monday, April 18th schedule:

3 p.m. Field #2 No. 4 Dexter vs No. 5 Bloomfield

3 p.m. Field #4 No. 3 Bernie vs No. 6 Puxico

Advance will play the winner of the Dexter/Bloomfield game on the same day at 4:30 p.m. on Field #2.

Woodland will play the winner of the Bernie/Puxico also on the same afternoon at 4:30 p.m. on Field #4.

The 3rd place game will be on Tuesday, April 19th Field #2 at 4 p.m.

Championship game will also be on April 19th at 4 p.m. but on Field #4.

2022 SCAA HS Baseball Tournament Seeds and Bracket Released

Stoddard County, MO - The Stoddard County Athletic Association High School Baseball Tournament seeds and bracket have been released.

The first round games are being played at four separate locations with the higher seed hosting the games.  Start times on Monday, April 18th are 4:30 p.m. for each game.

Second round games will be played at one location, as a double header.  The team with the highest seed that has lights will host the second round games. First game will begin at 4 p.m.

Championship and 3rd place games will be played at two separate locations with higher seed hosting.  Games will start at 4:30 p.m.

Woodland received the #1 seed followed by #2 Dexter, #3 Bernie, #4 Advance, #5 Bloomfield, #6 Puxico, #7 Bell City and #8 Richland.

Monday, April 18th Schedule (Teams play at higher seed location) First pitch at 4:30 p.m.

#1 Woodland vs #8 Richland 

#2 Dexter vs #7 Bell City

#3Bernie vs #6 Puxico

#4 Advance vs #5 Bloomfield

Semifinal games are April 19th at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.  3rd place game is April 20th at 4:30 and championship game also on April 20th at 4:30 p.m.
