DHS Track and Field Senior Night Featuring Gavin Cartwright

Dexter, MO - The Dexter Bearcats held their first home track meet since 2016 and it was a special afternoon featuring the 2021 graduating seniors.

In 2017, the track was deemed unsafe for competition because of cracks in the surface. With the recent $15 million bond issued passed by voters in April of 2019 the Dexter School District created a new track at Charles Bland Stadium and created areas for triple and long jump, a pole vault runway and a javelin area.  The shot put and discus areas have also been updated.

Seniors and their families were honored.

Gavin Cartwright is the son of Damon Cartwright.

Gavin is a member of the Bearcat Cross Country team three years and track team for four years.

After Gavin graduates, he plans to attend college at Arkansas State University - Jonesboro and earn a bachelors of science degree in biology.

His most memorable moment at DHS is when Carter Dorton broke 5 minutes in the mile for the first time!

Bloomfield Wildcats Golf Team Victorious in Season Opener

The Wildcats shot 190 followed by Caruthersville 214, NMCC 238, and Malden 240.

"Today we did better than I was anticipating under the circumstances," commented Bloomfield golf coach Travis Westbrook.  "Playing our first match of the year in not ideal conditions (rained all day), I was really happy with our scores.

"Jeffrey Jarrell had a really good day, a 42 today is something he should be proud of at the Malden golf course.  None of them have played competitive individual golf for almost two years, so I was more than pleased with all of our results."

"Hopefully we can only improve from here," finished Westbrook.

Bloomfield’s Jeffrey Jarrell earned medalist honors with a 6-over 42. Nathan Lockhart’s 48, Bryant Vaughn’s 48 and Dawson Hill’s 52 rounded out the Wildcats’ team score.

The Bloomfield Wildcats golf team will travel to Dexter's Hidden Trails Country Club on Wednesday, March 24th at 4 p.m.
