Poplar Bluff, Missouri - The Mules Booster Club has named Brylee Misner and Gavyn Hays of Poplar Bluff High School the September Athletes of the Month, presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors.
Gavyn, a junior football player, has 48 rushing yards, 477 receiving yards, seven touchdowns, and maintains an average of 9.9 yards per reception with 86 yards being his longest reception, in four games total. Notably, he completed 220 all-purpose yards against Riverview Gardens.
His coach, David Sievers, described Gavyn as being a “hard worker” and “team leader” with “high energy.” He “will do whatever we ask” and “works hard on [the] scout team,” the coach continued.
Brylee, a senior softball player, is on track to become a four-year letterman. With a batting average of .340, she broke the career homerun record this season with 19. After High School, she reportedly has plans to enter the nursing field.
“She is a remarkable team player, willing to play and do whatever is needed for the good of the team,” said Lisa Boyer, Brylee’s coach. “She is a very hard working and competitive young lady.”
