Lady Cats Take Down State Ranked Park Hills

Park Hills, Missouri - The Lady Cats of Dexter handed the Park Hills Lady Rebels their first loss at home since 2013!  Though the first half had a lot of fans praying for the Bearcats, they managed to pull it out in the fourth quarter to earn a 47 - 38 victory on the road.

"We found a way to win there at the end," commented Lady Cats coach Chad Allen. "We had a tie game there at 31-31 at the end of three.  The girls did a great job defensively in the 4th quarter to get the win."

Dexter was 7/8 from the free throw line and more specifically Natalie Sitze shot 5/6 from the charity stripe.

"That was a huge thing for us, those were huge free throws and they were 1 and 1 for Natalie," stated Allen. "I thought we were more confident offensively and knocking down free throws in the fourth quarter."

"Armonette was the key to their offense and she got to the basket quite a bit, but with Riley and Hannah being in there, she couldn't do that," Allen said of Park Hills player Skyler Armonette. "I totally think our length gave them problems today.  They don't have much size and we could get out and pressure and stay on shooters. We made some adjustments in the second half trying to really stay on their shooters.  If they beat us off the dribble we had a big there whether it was Riley or Hannah."

"I thought we did such a better job in the second half defensively," continued Allen.  "It was a very physical game between the two teams and I just can't say enough of how proud I am of these girls.  They kept their composure in the first quarter down 10-2 and to come back in the fourth quarter like they did. I am just really proud of the girls to keep fighting the way they did."

"Coach Mapes does an unbelievable job with this program here and they keep better all the time," stated Allen.  "They lost some key players this year, but such a great team defensively.  Park Hills did an excellent job on defense.  They were like hornets around Hannah (Thurmon).  She got her head up and found some key players.  Their game plan coming in tonight was good."

Dexter had a lot of good contributions from the bench tonight as well.

"Riley (Allen) played very well as did Maycie (Martin) and Meg (Trout).  Meg got that huge 3 when we needed it," Allen said.  "It just showed that our composure is good and we just keep fighting and grinding out games with our touch schedule."

"They don't have a great record, but they play some great teams," Allen said of Parkway South.  "They have some good guards and I hope we can get after them defensively and cause some trouble with them.  We will come in with a good game plan and execute."
