Broseley, Missouri - The Lady Cats continued their drive to the championship routing the Greenville Lady Bears 78 - 16 in a quarterfinal game of the Lay Royals Christmas Classic basketball tournament on Monday afternoon.
The Lady Cats really moved their feet well during the explosive first half of the game gathering 50 points before retiring to the locker room for a much needed break in the game. Dexter was very active on defense as well holding the Lady Bears to just 11 points in the first half and only 16 points the entire game.
"The main thing we have been harping on is moving our feet," commented Dexter head girls basketball coach Chad Allen. "We also played a lot of man today."
Chaylea Mosby recorded a game-time 37 points and tied a school record for the most 3-pointers in a game with 7. She shares that title with former Lady Cats, Alison Jarrell and Taylor Nelson.
Mosby shot 79% from the field and was 7 of 10 for treys.
"Chaylea just has a natural nose for the ball," stated Allen. "If you give her any space at all she will knock it down. She is just a great offensive player and it's special to have a player like her with her gift."
Macie Martin had another great night scoring 13 points on five buckets and three from the charity stripe.
Hannah Thurmon shot 80% from the field tallying 8 points for the Lady Cats.
"We are deep and we can run in and out. We have several that contribute," continued Allen. "We can wear down teams with our depth. Riley Allen timed her jumps well tonight and is getting better with her post. She is a young athlete."
Looking forward to Wednesday night it will be a battle with either Kennett or Doniphan. The last time these two met on the court Kennett won by just two points. "It could go either way," Allen said of the two teams. "We will get an early practice in tomorrow and be back ready on Wednesday."
