8th Grade Girls Basketball Tournament Championship Tonight

Dexter, Missouri - The 8th Grade girls basketball tournament at Dexter continues Monday, October 24th beginning at 4:30 p.m. at T.S. Hill Middle School.

At 4:30 p.m. the Sikeston Lady Dogs take on Senath in the consolation game at the middle school gym.

At 6:00 p.m. the Lady Cats of Dexter take on Neelyville for the 3rd place finish.

On Saturday, Neelyville defeated Sikeston then New Madrid County Central defeated Neelyville.

Jackson beat Senath and Dexter beat Charleston in the first round of play.  Jackson beat Dexter semifinal action.

At 7:30 p.m. Jackson 8th grade Indians play New Madrid County Central for the 8th grade Championship.

DHS Lady Cats Make History - Win 1st Sectional Volleyball Game

Dexter, Missouri - The Lady Cats traveled to Lutheran South High School Saturday to compete in the Class 3 Sectional.  They defeated Rosati-Kain 25-22, 25-7 in the first round and are awaiting their next opponent will be either Lutheran South HS or Ste. Genevieve.

"On the bus on the way up here the girls didn't seem that nervous," commented Dexter head volleyball coach Carmen Morgan.  "I think the nerves hig them when they go here."

"These girls really want it bad," continued Morgan.  "I think that first set they just got a case of the nerves.  They didn't pass the ball well in the first game, but came back in the second game and improved greatly.  We passed better in the second set and the it worked to our advantage."

Addie Kruse compiled 13 digs and 7 kills for the Lady Cats.  Ashlynn Wyman contributed 9 digs and Krysten Garrison finished with 7 digs.

Bailee Williams had 16 set assists.

Garrison was the top hitter with 11 kills.

"Krysten did a good job for us out there.  They have some tall girls and if anyone knows us and Rosati does they know we go to Krysten and Krysten is going to hit on the front row."

Wyman served 2 aces.  Bailee Williams, and Krysten Garrison each added an ace.

"Unforced errors have just plagued us all year and we just need to keep getting better," continued Morgan.  "We have a very tough game ahead of us either way, Ste. Genevieve and Lutheran South are both good programs.  We just have to pass better and not be so tight and nervous."

Lady Cats Win District Volleyball Title

Dexter, Missouri - The Lady Cats volleyball team beat Notre Dame 23-25, 25-20, and 25-21 in the semifinals action and defeated Perryville 25-15, 25-18 to earn their second Class 3 District 1 title in three years.

Dexter (24-7-3) will advance to sectional play at Lutheran South High School where they will compete against Rosati-Kain on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 3:00 p.m.  The winner of that game will advance to the semifinal against Lutheran South High School or Ste. Genevieve at 6:00 p.m.

The Lady Cats jumped out to a 5-1 lead early against Perryville.  Krysten Garrison had four of Dexter's first six points.

"Krysten get better as the night went on," commented Dexter head volleyball Coach Carmen Morgan.  "Once she gets going, she is hard to stop."

Perryville cut Dexter's lead to just one with a 11-10 score, but Maycie Martin and Blair Rogers helped with several blocks.  Garrison continued her fight and Addie Kruse earned two points including the game winning point.

Game 2 was a bit closer in the beginning tied at one, two, three, four, and five points.

Bailee Williams, Ashlynn Wyman, and Addie Kruse all finished in double digs for the night.  Williams had a team high 17 digs.

"Ashlynn and Megan Trout and Addie all of them were digging up balls and that was important," Morgan said.

Addie Kruse finished with 13 digs and Ashlynn Wyman tallied 16 digs.

Krysten Garrison led the Lady Cats with an impressive 29 kills against Perryville.  Addie Kruse added 12 kills.

Bailee Williams completed 32 set assists.

The Lady Cats will travel to Lutheran South High School on Saturday, October 22, 2016 to compete against Rosati-Kain at 3:00 p.m.

Dexter 8th Grade Girls Basketball Tournament Starts Saturday

Dexter, Missouri - The 8th Grade Lady Cats basketball team will host their annual tournament at Bearcat Event Center beginning Saturday, October 22, 2016.  Monday night games will be played at the Dexter Middle School.

Saturday, October 22, 2016

On Court #1 at 10:00 a.m. Neelyville will play Sikeston.

On Court #2 at 10:00 a.m. Jackson takes on Senath.

On Court #1 at 11:30 a.m. Dexter plays Charleston.

At 1:00 p.m. will be the winners of the Jackson/Senath game vs Dexter/Charleston game on Court #1

At 1:00 p.m. will be the semifinal consolation game on Court #2..

Monday, October 24, 2016

Consolation game will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Middle School.

Third Place game is at 6:00 p.m. at the Middle School.

Championship game is at 7:30 p.m. at the Middle School.

7th Grade Basketball Tournament Starts Monday

Jackson, Missouri - The Cape Central Tigers will host a 7th grade girls basketball tournament at Jackson, Missouri beginning on Monday, October 24, 2016 in the new gym at the junior high school.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m. Dexter LBB will play the Sikeston Lady Bulldogs in the Junior High School new gymnasium.

At 7:00 p.m. Jackson will play Cape at the same location.

On Wednesday, October 26th the Championship game will begin at 7:00 p.m. with the third place game at 5:30 p.m.
