
The Bearcats established a half-time lead of 38-16 before finishing off the Rebels 61-24 for the win.
"It was good for the boys to get their first win," continued Dowdy. "We will take a break over the weekend and get back to work on Monday."
Dexter junior guard Jason Jarrell had an incredible night against Richland. He tallied a game-high 26 points most coming prior to the half-time mark.
Senior guard Jacob Pedigo also had a tremendous night scoring 10 of his 14 points in the first half.
Sophomore center Gabe Jackson also contributed double digits for the Bearcats adding 10 points.
Dexter held the Rebels to just 8 points in the second half."We worked on a few different things defensively tonight," commented Dexter head basketball coach Josh Dowdy. "They were able to get some easy baskets off of our press early in the game. We played man to man in the second half and did a much better job of disrupting their offense."
"We also had quite a few younger kids step in to some roles," continued Dowdy. "They did not look scared and it was good to see."
