Players, spectators, coaches and even the referees wore pink to support the Hits for Hope fundraiser.
“It’s a wonderful cause,” stated Morgan. “We are so happy we get to participate in it. It almost brings tears to my eye when they start announcing who the kids are playing for each year. It’s an emotional game and the kids get up for it. The parents did a great job decorating. The 18FORE Life is one of the best things I have heard of and we are proud to be a part of it.”
Julia Hahn and Jessica Lindsey led the Bearcats with 6 digs each. Shyann Jines and Ashlyn Werneck added 4 digs each.
Shyann Jines had 3 aces. Krysten Garrison had 1 ace.
Jessica Lindsey had 9 kills. Krysten Garrison and Shyann Jines each tallied 7 kills. Julia Hahn had a team-high 16 assists.
“We knew they would come out a little stronger the second set,” commented Dexter’s head volleyball coach Carmen Morgan. “The first set we went out and took care of business. We wanted to be the ones hitting and make them play defense. I felt like we did that the first game.”
Dexter’s Junior Varsity also won both of their sets 25-3, 25-8.

The ShowMe Times is proud to highlight the outstanding performance of two Dexter Bearcat Football athletes. Each week the ShowMe Times will choose two players – one offensive player and one defensive player who will be featured as Players of the Week. Leadership on the athletic field is often a good indicator of the future development of our young students and is a perfect training ground for future leaders.
This week was a tough decision as so many players contributed in ways that did not reflect high on the stats chart; however we can only choose one player each week for offense and defense.
The ShowMe Times is pleased to announce the ShowMe Times Players of the Week #5 against the Caruthersville Tigers are Jared Deal and Noah Kronk.
"It is rare that a player actually WANTS to play on the offensive line. It is a thankless job watching other people score and get in the paper or on television," stated head coach Justin Peden. "There is an old saying that the only people that watch a lineman are their coaches and their mothers. Jared is very deserving of recognition as Player of the Week, because he does his job every play not only in games, but in practice as well. He never complains and it has been a pleasure coaching him and getting to know him as an individual. He is also a tenacious blocker who battles every play. As coaches we have 100% faith that he will know not only his assignments, but all of the assignments along the offensive line."
Coach Greg Lummukka also had this to say about Jared. "He is an extremely coachable young man who has an eye for detail. Jared plays with a tremendous amount of physicality as he battles for the line of scrimmage each and every play. It has been a pleasure to coach him this past season and a half."
Jared Deal is your Player of the Week against Caruthersville! Congratulations Jared!
Noah Kronk has an impressive 19 tackles against the Tigers. This was not only a team-high, but a game-high total. He had 14 tackles and 5 tackle assists. Kronk is a senior at Dexter High School and will be graduating in the spring.
Noah Kronk is your Defensive Player of the Week! Congratulations Noah!
