Fundamental Basketball Camp to Begin Monday

Dexter, Missouri –  Chad Allen, head coach for the Lady Bearcats Basketball and voted as Coach of the Year, would like to take this opportunity to invite you to the Rib City All-Star Fundamental Basketball Campe, an individual player development camp.

This day camp will be hosted at the Bearcat Event Center in Dexter, Missouri on July 14 – July 16th.  The Rib City All-Star Fundamental Camp will be different than any other basketball camp in the area.  This camp will be organized and instructed by six highly successful high school coaches.

Their mission is to provide all participants the opportunity to improve their skill set, as well as, improve their mindset related towards being a great player, teammate and student.

Each student must bring basketball shoes, socks, basketball shorts, and t-shirts.  PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BALL.  The Waiver of liability must be completed prior to participation.

Sessions are available for grades 3rd – 12th for boys and girls.  Camp is from 9 a.m. – noon and 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.  Please bring a sack lunch or money for Concession Stand.

Price is $150 per camper with $15 off with group of 5 or more signed up together.

This will be your last chance to see your favorite team before the regular school season starts.  The Rib City Shootout will host boys basketball Friday, July 11th and Saturday, July 12th with well over 40 teams taking the court at the Bearcat Event Center, Dexter High School, Dexter Middle School and Southwest Elementary.  It should be an exciting weekend of basketball!!

Charleston, Missouri – The Missouri Senior Babe Ruth state baseball tournament begins on Thursday, July 10th.  The Charleston Squirrels are looking for their 7th state title.

The 14-team double-elimination tournament will be held at Hillhouse Park in Charleston with three games being played at Notre Dame Regional High School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Bearcats Perform Well at Malden Baskeball Shootout

Malden, Missouri – The Dexter Bearcat boys basketball team participated in the Malden Shootout on Monday and Tuesday.  The varsity team held a record of 5 – 1 at the end of both days.  The junior varsity record was 4 – 2 for the tournament.

Varsity

Game 1 v Advance--Dexter won 56-38. 

Points:  Flowers 13, Renken 12, Chesser 10, Moore 7, Pedigo 6, Pollock 4, Kronk and Jarrell 2 each

Game 2 v NMCC--Dexter lost 27-68 

Points:  Chesser 9; Flowers 6; Jarrell 4; Pedigo, Kronk, Pollock, and Moore 2 each.  (*NMCC beat every team there by a minimum of 40 points. They have a really good team this year and are going to be hard to beat!)

Game 3 v Delta C-7--Dexter won 49-47

Points:  Chesser 17; Flowers 16; Kronk, Renken, Moore 4 each, Aldridge and Heil 2 each.

Ethan Flowers tied the game with a 3-pointer with 3 seconds remaining in the game.  It went into sudden death overtime with the first team to score taking the win.  In a designed 2 on 1 play, Renken tipped the ball to Flowers who fed a bounce pass to Chesser for the lay-up and the win. Way to go TEAM!!!!

Game 4 v Risco--Dexter won 67-18

Points:  Flowers 19, Renken 13, Pedigo 10, Heil 8, Kronk 7, Chesser 6, Jarrell 4

Game 5 v Holcomb--Dexter won 53-19

Points:  Flowers 18; Renken 8; Pedigo, Kronk, and Heil 6 each; Pollock 4; Chesser 3; Jarrell 2

Game 6 v Malden--Dexter won 40-36

Points:  Chesser 14, Pedigo 8, Pollock 7, Jarrell 6, Flowers 3, Moore 2

JV Bearcats

The JV record was 4-2 for both days.  Dexter’s only JV loss was to the Malden Green Wave in both games.

Game 1 v Advance--Dexter won

Game 2 v Malden--Dexter lost

Game 3 v Rector--Dexter won

Game 4 v Holcomb--Dexter won

Game 5 v Malden--Dexter lost

Game 6 v Advance--Dexter won

The Dexter Bearcats will be back in action this Friday and Saturday at the Rib City Shootout.  We will post the latest schedule on Thursday.  Coach Chad Allen has been busy this week with adding teams and cancellations, but there's no doubt the BEARCATS will be on the court.  Grades 6th - 12th will REPRESENT!  Go Bearcats!!!!
