Bernie, Missouri - The Lady ‘Cats softball team traveled to Bernie and defeated the defending SCAA tournament champion Mules on Wednesday afternoon by a score of 7 – 4.
“This is our biggest rivalry in the district,” stated Dexter softball coach Chris Bolin. “I am very pleased with how we played today.”
Kendra Stevenson earned the win for Dexter. She allowed only four runs and struck out nine of Bernie’s players.

Dexter improves their record to 3-2 on the season. Bernie is now 2-3."We struggled defensively in the first game today against Dexter," stated Bernie softball coach Brad Botsch. "When you have 8 physical miscues, you really make it tough on yourself. We played much better in the second game against Scott City, but came up just short."
"Blakely Bradshaw threw both games for us today and did an excellent job. We have just got to find a way to make the plays behind her," continued Botsch. "We had some good moments today, we just have to keep working. I think we'll get there eventually. We had girls competing better today than what we've had so, I think we'll get there."
Dexter and Bernie will face-off again this weekend as they are both competing in the 3rd Annual Swing Pink Softball Tournament in Dexter. Bernie will play Scott City at 9:00 a.m. and Dexter will play Neelyville at 11:00 a.m.
“Our Swing Pink Tournament is big this year,” commented Bolin. “We have 16 teams competing from all over southeast Missouri on four fields.”
