Erika Cobb Hits 1,000th Career Point, Lady 'Cats Win

Dexter, Missouri – The Lady ‘Cats hosted the Jackson Lady Indians on Monday evening and came out on top by a score of 72-50.

“Offensively we weren’t on in the first quarter.  We just had to grind this one out,” commented head coach Chad Allen. “Defensively we did great.  We wore them down and created a lot of turnovers.  Every once in a while we will start out that way and our defense has to pick us up.”

Erika Cobb #15 became the third Lady ‘Cat to reach 1,000 career points during the game scoring 23 points including two 3-pointers.

“It was awesome to get my 1,000th point tonight,” stated Erika. “I hit 23 points tonight, but my career high is 25 in a game. It was just an awesome night!”

When asked what her future plans are, ”I plan to go to Three Rivers College and play basketball and we will have signing day later after high school basketball is over, probably in sometime in April.”

Congratulations Erika!  We look forward to seeing you on the court for Three Rivers College!

“In the third quarter we had a big run and that run was started by our defense,” commented Allen. “We created some turnovers and that got us fired up.  It got our offense going.”

When asked about Erika's accomplishment, “It’s pretty awesome to have three in one year and I’m pretty sure that Paige Patterson will get hers too,” continued Allen. “To have four players in one year is almost unheard of.  I know MSHSAA doesn’t keep those records. It’s just pretty special to have four players in one season.”

“Erika has plans to go to Three Rivers. Jeff Walk is going to get a special player.  She is gifted offensively.  She can do almost anything offensively.  She can hit threes, and is the best mid-range jumper on our team.  Defensively she has improved so much these four years and she just keeps on getting better.”

It was also a special, but sad evening for Paige Patterson.  Her teammates came together and so did the community.  “Purple-out for Paige” was a tremendous honor for her family.  The Bearcat Event Center was filled with fans wearing different shades of purple.  “It was a great night. Paige was probably a little emotional with everything," stated Coach Allen. "I thought they did a great job supporting Paige and keeping her spirits up,”

“It’s a sad deal so we figured we could be there for her and support her,” commented teammate Erika Cobb.

Hannah Noe #10 had the game-high 26 points including 3 treys.  Paige Patterson #22 added 9 points for the Bearcats.  Alison Jarrell #12 also hit a trey.

Melanie McKuin #11 had a team-high five steals for Dexter.

Dexter 21-3 will host the Sikeston Bulldogs in their final regular season game on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.  It’s Senior night and senior introductions begin at 6:00 p.m.  Show your Dexter spirit and wear your favorite Bearcat shirt.

“Thursday is going to be a special night, partly a sad night to see them play their last home game,” commented Coach Allen. “Hopefully we will get after it in the play-offs and earn another trip to Columbia.”

Special Touch by the Lady 'Cats Tonight

Brosely, Missouri – It started out a stormy evening, but the dedicated Lady ‘Cats basketball team took on the Twin Rivers Lady Royals and easily defeated them 86-31.

It was a special night for one player, Paige Patterson.  She not only has a loving family off the court, but the girls’ basketball team is just as much a part of her family.  They are very supportive of each other and tonight was no different.

Each player wore a purple ribbon woven in their sneaker laces to represent the love they have for Paige’s aunt who is in the hospital fighting cancer.   Michelle Bollinger has been fighting the awful disease for several months and she is super strong, a survivor, a hero, a loving mother and wife.

Whether it is on or off the court these ladies help each other, respect each other and most of all support each other.  They are true heroes and we are extremely proud they represent the Dexter community.

As they took the court tonight, Paige could not help, but think of her aunt.  This game was for her and her teammates helped make the win special!  What a special gesture from a great group of girls! LBB ROCKS!

Six lady Bearcats were in double figures tonight.  Hannah Noe #10 tallied the game-high 24 points shooting 77%.  Erika Cobb #14 scored her jersey number of 14.

MaKayla Waldner #30 and Alison Jarrell #12 each added 11 points.  Jarrell had three treys.

Dakota Reynolds #1 recorded 10 points and Paige Patterson #22 added 10 points.  She was 100% at the charity stripe.

Dexter lead 30-11 at the end of the first and by half-time there was no way for the Lady Royals to catch up.  Half-time score 62-18.

Final Score 86-31

The Lady ‘Cats will be at home on Monday, February 24th when they host the Jackson Lady Indians.  On Tuesday they host the Notre Dame Lady Dogs.  Both games will be spectacular.

Great game tonight and way to go Lady ‘Cats on making this special for Paige and her family.  Prayers to Michelle, Jim, Hannah and Kassidey.
